Fruit Ice Spilled on the Leather Couch!
Hello everyone, I'm back and bringing you a new fragrance report. Today it's about Sunday Sorbet from Avery Perfume Gallery. Hmm… Sorbet… but why is it called Sunday Sorbet? Is there some kind of tradition that sorbet is mainly eaten on Sundays? I have no idea, I could eat sorbet every day (or ice cream… and yes, I definitely know the difference between sorbet and ice cream! Do you? Or do you just stuff yourselves with it without thinking too much? He he… ladies apparently aren't called sweet-tooths for nothing :DD).

Anyway, with a name like that, I actually expect something fresh and fruity, which means a spring and summer fragrance. But when I look at the notes and see leather, cedar, oakmoss, and pepper on the list, I start to doubt whether the fragrance could be fresh. I mean, what kind of combination is that? Sure, sometimes things that seem completely inappropriate can be amazing. For example, they say that a (tiny) pinch of salt in coffee or cocoa can enhance the flavor… but salt or pepper (since pepper is in the fragrance list) on ice or sorbet? He he, no, I’d rather not try that and leave it to those who have no clue, like you for example :DD

But whatever, what doesn't work in taste can be quite nice olfactorily; I've had quite a few fragrances under my nose that were fresh but also had (not so intense) pepper notes, so let's see how this fragrance is!

The Fragrance:
The fragrance starts citrusy fresh with lemons or limes (I would even say both) and has a slightly creamy background. I also perceive a light, powdery sweetness afterwards, and since it comes across as fruity, I’m guessing it’s the currants.
After just a short time, the first leather notes come through, along with a bit of patchouli. These two notes soon become significantly more intense, which takes away the citrus freshness from the fragrance. Especially the leather quickly gains strength and is therefore the most noticeable. As the second strongest note, I would mention the cedar, as the distinctive scent of this wood is very prominent. In the background, the fragrance is sweet, although at this point it’s a bit difficult to determine whether the sweetness comes more from the amber or from the musk.
You can also smell oakmoss, which gives the fragrance a classic, but above all, a more mature touch. And then there’s the pepper, which is also better detectable a bit later, but never really becomes very strong and thus isn’t sharp.
In any case, in the base, the fragrance of leather and cedar with a sweet touch is quite nice, especially as the fragrance later begins to smell a little milder or softer.
In the later base, the sweet notes gradually disappear, and the leather also begins to weaken noticeably. Shortly after, you can then only smell the patchouli, and the fragrance feels generally warm.

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage initially seems a bit weak, but then is at a good level when the leather sets in after the top notes. The longevity is quite good, as the fragrance is always noticeably present on the skin from morning to evening.

The Bottle:
The bottle is square with beveled edges (so it’s more octagonal) and shiny reddish-brown. On the black label, you can see the name and brand in slightly golden letters. The cap is also reddish-brown and octagonal, and the brand name is engraved on its surface. Strictly speaking, the bottle is a bit standard due to its rectangular design, but it still looks nice and elegant.

Conclusion:
Okay, first of all: Despite initial concerns about the combination of notes, the fragrance has turned out really well. Sure, as expected, the fragrance isn’t fresh, even though the top notes initially suggested that. And I wouldn’t call the fragrance sorbet either, as the scent of a fruity sweet sorbet is more of a background note after the top notes, and only detectable if you press your nose against the sprayed spot.

But what has emerged here is a beautiful, woody leather-patchouli scent that could be worn well, especially on not very warm spring days and in autumn, even for going out. In terms of target audience, the fragrance seems initially masculine, as it strongly smells of cedar at the beginning of the heart notes, and many men’s fragrances often seem to have strong cedar scents, but then the fragrance becomes a bit milder and is actually equally suitable for both genders. However, only for adults (no, I’m not implying anything inappropriate this time, why do you always think that of me???), as the fragrance has a rather mature aura; after all, in addition to leather and cedar (which rhymes nicely :D), there’s also oakmoss present, which in my opinion is a bit unsuitable for younger people.

But for everyone else, the fragrance is definitely worth testing, even if it doesn’t smell very different from many other similar fragrances; however, I must also say that I have already tried a lot of fragrances, and at some point, you get the impression that many fragrances are quite similar, and discovering something truly new becomes increasingly difficult. But that’s not a problem; as long as a fragrance smells good, everything is okay. And if the rest, like the presentation or the bottle, is also right, then all the better.

Well, as I said, this fragrance has turned out quite well. So that was my fragrance report for today. Well then, have a lovely evening everyone :)

PS: And no, I have never spilled ice cream (or anything else) on the couch in my life; I just couldn’t think of a better title. Yes, I’m not that clumsy; I mean, I must have some good quality after all :D
