A way overpriced skin scent

I only tested this out of curiosity as Celine scents have been a huge disappointment, and this is no different!

Yes it’s a gorgeous vanilla, but its a barely there skin scent. Such a huge shame! At £230 for only 100ml, it’s a total joke! It’s just not worth it if you have to hold your skin to your nose just to smell it. There are much better scents on the market for the same price or less….. Angélique Noire , Spiritueuse Double Vanille, Cozy Vanilla , Fire at Will, Lune Féline Eau de Parfum ….. I don’t find it any more different or unique to anything else I already have in my collection, and what I do own performs way better than this. It’s still a 10/10 for the smell of the scent itself, but 2/10 for performance. Currently Black Tie to me is a watered down Fire At Will / Lune Feline for double the price. Had this been MUCH stronger, it would have been a winner because it is a beautiful vanilla and would probably beat the others, if it was just more detectable.

For anyone who owns this, does it get stronger over time?

This also isn’t anything like Orchidee Vanilla which is a chocolate orange scent. The only thing these scents have in common is the poor performance.

Rounder and Sweeter than Bois d’Argent

It is an amber-iris vanilla wood, rounder and sweeter than Bois d’Argent but from the same father. The perfumers names of this new Celine collection have not been disclosed, but we can clearly feel the artistic direction of Mr. Hedi Slimane who creates here the sequel of his work at Dior.
Black Tie is less bubbly, narrower and projects less than his big brother. Everything is very well built and will undoubtedly be one of the hit of the collection. The male - female border is murky. It looks more feminine to my nose. I tested the entire collection, and the work is sublime. Subtle enough without the desire to impress the gallery. Sober, classy, so French and perfectly in tune with the times.

I can not describe you, but you are perfect

Since I couldn't fit the following into a 140 character statement, it will now be a review :)
(I already did a review on parfumo.de, this is the english version)

I like vanilla, I like iris, I like woody notes.
Probably Black Tie is the perfect blend of these for me, maybe the other notes play a role here too, I can't tell.

Because I can't smell out any individual notes here, I just perceive the overall result:
Present, but not obtrusive.
Sweet, but not sticky - a dry sweetness that is very attractive.
Powdery, but not dry as dust.

Just a perfect composition for me, great fragrance.

First Impressions - Amazing Opening but Just Another Vanilla

I tested Black Tie in the Celine store. At first sniff it is a glorious, sophisticated, EXPENSIVE-smelling vanilla but it did not last and what was left of the dry down felt like the normal vanilla scent. I really wanted to love this because of the reviews and branding but can't justify price for just another vanilla scent. I hope to test again and see if I'll arrive at a different conclusion.

THE PERFECTION

black tie captivates me, it encompasses vanilla and supports it with iris butter and cedar. For an evening, in the middle of the day, it is of a subtlety without name. I could not separate myself from it, it is addictive, it is greedy without being synthetic.

The best perfume in my taste. It has an effect on people who smell it.
