The revolver that is slowly but surely fading into oblivion!
I have had this one in my collection for quite a while now! However, I currently don’t see anyone talking about Azzaro, only about the latest Wanted releases, and thus By Night has completely disappeared in my opinion. To be honest, it’s a shame for the fragrance; it definitely deserves more love and attention. Especially for autumn and winter, it’s a no-brainer and a compliment magnet!
About the scent itself (8.8 out of 10):
By Night is a sweet-fruity fragrance with spicy and fresh nuances. A woody base is also present! There’s a slight synthetic vibe in the scent character as well.
Top notes start with: mandarin and cinnamon. Very simple and directly perceptible! A beautiful fruity, ripe mandarin meets a nicely balanced dose of cinnamon.
In the heart, cedar and incense come into play, among others. Don’t worry, the incense isn’t too overpowering! Cumin adds a slight freshness and cooling effect to the scent character.
In the drydown, notes like cedarwood, tobacco, and cypress emerge! It becomes more robust, sweeter, and woodier. The cypress is hardly noticeable in the nose, giving neither a green note nor an earthy scent character.
Longevity: 8.6 out of 10
On my skin and clothes, it lasts a good 7 - 9 hours!
[PS: My spray routine varies depending on the fragrance; here I use about 6 - 7 sprays]
Sillage: 8.5 out of 10
The sillage is strong in the first hour but becomes closer to the skin after about 5 hours. Personally, I can still perceive it after more than 6.5 hours!

If you’re looking for an affordable and youthful spring, autumn, and winter fragrance, Azzaro’s By Night is a great choice for a tight budget. I actually haven’t tested any of the newer releases that came out after By Night yet. I definitely need to try the new offshoots to see if they can replace By Night, which is quite difficult in my opinion. It does come across as somewhat youthful, but the new whisky offshoot is the most masculine of the bunch. Even those over 30 can easily test By Night. If you love all things mandarin or woody-spicy fragrances, this one is a great fit!
