A Woody Surprise

When I'm bored or have some "dead time," I like to browse around here and expand my knowledge on fragrances. This was also the case with this scent; it caught my attention at some point and immediately appealed to me regarding the listed notes and the "similar" category.
I was completely hooked after I saw that it was supposed to smell somewhat like MB Explorer. I had one of the first batches and was thrilled-solid longevity, great scent experience. After I finished the bottle, I needed a new one, but disappointment set in. The performance suddenly became a joke. While it previously lasted moderately to well, it was suddenly gone after just 1 hour.

In many ways, everything is quite different with the Signature. But let's take it step by step.
The presentation is rather understated, a dark blue, cylindrical bottle with silver lettering. The cap has a click closure and unfortunately feels somewhat cheap. The sprayer is not worth mentioning.
One day, the scent was available at my local perfumery, so I went straight in and sprayed it on. My first impression was that it actually smelled very similar to the Explorer! I was very pleased, but I was already scarred, so I went outside and observed the development.
I noticed a significant difference right away-I detect a pencil note in the fragrance, with a very woody undertone. Since I prefer woody scents along with orientals (and sometimes gourmands), I was positively surprised.
The fresh note usually remains consistent, along with the pencil note. Wood joins in, and when that fades, the amber reveals itself to me.

I was also surprised by the performance:
The longevity is superb, lasting between 9-14 hours on me! I leave for work at 7:30 in the morning and return around 5:30 in the evening; sometimes it is still present, albeit very faint, but perceptible in the environment.
The sillage is okay, nothing groundbreaking, but you will definitely be noticed.

Overall, the perception is very positive, although it doesn't receive too many compliments. The scent is more suitable for mature men; it’s not squeaky, loud, or sweet. Rather understated, but very solid.

Recently, I had a very bizarre experience with it. I wore it mostly in cooler temperatures (I believe the scent really works in any weather), but recently at just over 20 degrees Celsius, something happened. There were very strong parallels to Bleu de Chanel! I was truly astonished, as it usually smelled like a woodier version of Explorer; now it smelled like BDC? It’s crazy how much temperature can affect a fragrance.

I own the entire care line of it and can only recommend it to all fans; together with the aftershave, you enhance the performance. The shower gel seems to have a slightly stronger apple note, and the deodorant stick lasts and lasts, rounding it all off with a very pleasant scent.

I don't draw a comparison to Aventus, as the idea goes in that direction, but the scent is completely different. I am also aware that Explorer goes in that direction, but I find it to be the same idea in that vein.
