still beautiful
I still have the eau d`ivoire from 2000 - and I still enjoy wearing it.

That’s why I was curious to try the fragrance today in a new outfit.

Well, the difference from the 2000 Ivoire is noticeable, and I was a bit confused at first.
But I also like the new scent - in its own way.

The pink little box already hints at its mild contents.
The slightly woody bitterness of its predecessor has disappeared, but the tart blackcurrant has its charm too.
The Osmanthus Absolute speaks an elegant language, emphasized by delicate pink magnolia.
Patchouli adds depth, making the fragrance suitable for the sunny winter day.
It has a sunny character anyway, and already lets you sniff the scent of spring.
Despite its brightness and lightness, the longevity is good.
It surrounds me brightly and cheerfully, and is easily noticeable.
I can't sense any sweetness, but I don’t miss it either.

Although there is hardly any resemblance to its predecessor, I am not disappointed.
On the contrary - they are two independent fragrances that I now appreciate both.

Sour Blackcurrants
At the beginning of summer, I really liked the scent, found it elegant, noble, light, feminine, summery. Perfect for a ladylike summer dress for the office, ideal for me as someone over 30, not a mainstream scent yet still special.
After 2-3 months, I suddenly only smelled sour blackcurrant and alcohol.
I don't necessarily want to smell like a blackcurrant liqueur at the office, and the sour note started to bother me more and more.
Maybe it will improve if I take a break from the perfume.
Perhaps my nose has just gotten too used to the scent.
The sillage also leaves much to be desired; after 1 hour, I can no longer perceive the scent, not even with sprays in my hair.
It's a shame really, because for such a elegantly scented perfume, I find the little bottle quite affordable and the scent very nice for summer and unobtrusive.
The pink bottle immediately makes me think of sweet, delicate pastries with lots of powdered sugar, but not at all, there’s not a trace of sweetness; the blackcurrants must be sweetened if you want to eat them in larger quantities, otherwise they taste too sour.

Gentle Start to Spring
“Ivoire - It is a name I have given to a dream. The name of a woman who was absolutely beautiful and wrapped in light silk. She glided past me on the stairs at the opera before disappearing into the night.”

Pierre Balmain

This extraordinary fragrance was created during the trip of Balmain Creative Director, Oliver Rousteing, to Miami and is closely linked to the Spring - Summer 2013 fashion collection of the house.

The opening is exciting: tart, sharp red currants resting on a light bergamot base. A warm, beautiful, sunny spring is announced.
Then it rains magnolia blossoms, as if one were sitting under a magnolia tree.
Osmanthus absolute provides interesting fruity and lively nuances here.
I detect a minimal hint of patchouli on my skin - thus the fragrance becomes warmer.
The finish is with ambrettolid (a musk-like scent from the musk mallow flower), which gives the whole a rounded note.

Conclusion: It is an interesting, beautiful, undoubtedly original fragrance that does not deserve the low rating of only 65% here.
Fresh, warm, feminine, elegant - a wonderful companion into spring.
It certainly has an optimistic character, and wearing it brings joy to everyday life.
It doesn’t sweep you off your feet immediately, as it is too refined, but by the second day of wearing it, you come to know and appreciate its subtle beauty.

The longevity is about 7 hours, the sillage is good but not overwhelming, and the bottle is beautiful!

Fresh, slightly tart blackcurrant. Later warmer and powdery. Clean scent for summer - with surprisingly good longevity.

Ivory isn't in there, though. Fruit, flowers, pink. Still not bad.

Blackcurrant - I love you!! - You are wonderfully tart and fruity here, sparkling and a treat like lightly sweet soda candy.

Wonderfully tangy, fresh berries alongside the first flowers timidly reaching for the sun. For romantics like me :-)

Beautiful Balmain, which isn't as pleasing as other "clean" scents. If you prefer a touch more individuality and class: here

Has nothing to do with the old Ivoire or the old Eau. A modern fruity floral variant with cassis, synthetic fruity freshness. Not great.

A fresh fruity start that quickly transitions into a sweet, powdery magnolia and ambrettolid note - pure bliss...
