Barbour for Her Barbour 2021

Yes, that's right! You read correctly! That legendary, either loved or despised black "spice fruit" that is ubiquitous here. Sometimes more, sometimes less present, it mingles with white flowers. So special are tuberoses and jasmine, which would otherwise come across as more narcotic than they do in this perfume.
Even in combination with a slightly rough green leaf and citrus fruits, it does not let its characteristic aroma fall by the wayside.
In the end, dry resins and crystal-clear musk also do not diminish the edge of this "cheeky" clove.
All in all, this relatively sweet-floral scent has its charms, thanks to that unusual finesse.
I "inherited" this Brit from my regular perfumery, which is rearranging part of its range. Such rarities are then conveniently available as testers...
There are quite a few surprises that I hadn't thought of before :-))

First of all, I must say that until recently I knew nothing about Barbour's fragrances. But when I tested it for the first time in our perfumery a few days ago (a colleague had recommended it to me, although I was rather skeptical about the bottle), I was totally shocked.

I myself have recently been enjoying the Good Girl EdP; when you need something safe and simple, I think it's just the perfect choice. When I then tested the aforementioned Barbour on a strip, I initially thought I had picked the wrong one because the top notes are almost identical to those of Good Girl. As I said, I was expecting a Chypre scent from the bottle, and I would say... something rather more traditional.

I immediately sprayed it on myself to make the comparison. Overall, I find the scent simply lighter than Good Girl, as that vanilla sweetness, which for me defines the youthful character of the fragrance, is not as pronounced in the Barbour. This one is like the calmer and more mature mother of Good Girl, who still retains her youth but convinces with steadfastness and freshness.

Unfortunately, I didn't perceive the scent for very long; after about 2-3 hours, it was only detectable close to the skin. Perhaps that has more to do with my now fragrance-damaged nose :)
