(with heartfelt thanks to Susan)
It's quite hard for me to grasp, but the iris definitely dominates-sometimes carrot-leathery, sometimes dry and waxy, like old paper, actually accompanied by the aroma of a barrel where alcohol was stored (I borrow the image of a Grappa barrel from Melisse2 here). The initially brief macaron accent quickly turns bitter for me, but it develops in a way that feels cohesive-I don't experience a break from sweet to bitter; still, overall, it's an iris scent for me; complex, beautiful, but also challenging... definitely worth testing again!
