As many of us know, BBW often repackages scents and gives them different names. The 2022 version of Happy Birthday/Frosted Vanilla is an identical repackage of Merry Cookie - but the 2023 version of Happy Birthday is a new fragrance.

Comparing the two:

1) 2022 version (this one)/"Frosted Vanilla"
- No longer available
- Pictured here, with the sideways candles on the bottle wrap
- Fragrance notes: "Sugar icing"
- I purchased this one in stores last year and on my receipt it actually said "Merry Cookie FFM" (Fine Fragrance Mist) instead of Happy Birthday/Frosted Vanilla FFM
- Smells identical to Merry Cookie ; it has the distinctive, synthetic "coconut macaroon cookie" note that Sugared Snickerdoodle & Confetti Cake Pop also have

2) 2023 version/ Vanilla Buttercream
- Available on BBW's site right now
- Silver metallic wrap with hot pink writing
- Fragrance notes: "Tahitian vanilla, whipped buttercream and powdered sugar"
- Happy Birthday 2023 smells like a rich vanilla, maybe sweetened with a touch of caramel; it's more of a "basic vanilla" with no cake, no musk, no powder; like a true vanilla buttercream

FINAL VERDICT:
- Both versions of Happy Birthday are fairly soft/don't project well, but the 2023 version does last longer
- I personally prefer Vanilla Buttercream /the 2023 version, as it lasts longer + I do not enjoy the "synthetic coconut macaroon cookie" note of the 2022 version

I look forward to wearing the 2023 version as my signature birthday/"birthday cake" scent!
