Sweet Darkness
How fitting the name. An intense fragrance that enchants, dark, seductive, fascinating. How I would love to smell it on (my) man. I hope I can still persuade my husband, he is such a perfume grump.....
Unisex, Sweet Darkness definitely is. I even believe it is even more stunning on a male being. At the first spray, you can briefly catch the fruity nuances, something very bitter stands out (grapefruit?). Immediately, sandalwood comes into play to overpower everything fruity with full force. Dark plum quietly joins in with vanilla pod. I also have the impression that there is a hint of cardamom included, but that is not listed among the fragrance notes. It could also be due to my skin chemistry. The scent progression does not change significantly. It remains a very intense fragrance for several hours, where sandalwood and plum are the main actors.
With home shopping fragrances, longevity is often a big problem. Despite the advertised high fragrance oil content, most perfumes vanish in no time. Which is, of course, very unfortunate. But the prices are also set very low, so one shouldn't expect too much. Luckily, not with this one. Ms. Johnen has really achieved a coup here. She dares to create a fragrance that does not conform to the (home shopping) norm and stands out. (The target group is usually consumers aged around 50 and above, who order through home shopping....)
The bottle is made of extra thick glass, heavy and angular. (The bottles from Franck Boclet look exactly the same, by the way.) It suits the male faction more, with black and gold packaging. Excellent spray button. Full recommendation to buy!
