Violets in Moss
A year has passed and Aldi is once again serving its Bellmira fragrances just in time for Christmas. It’s always a kind of surprise bag, as each edition resembles other major inspirations. In 2017, the bottles smelled like Olympea and in 2018 like Lady Million.
Yesterday, I dashed into Aldi for completely different reasons and suddenly hit the brakes hard. There was such a wonderful scent in the air. But it didn’t come from the usual fragrance section; it was from a separate display. A young woman had just tried the One 4 and was attracting her female companions like moths to a flame. This was something entirely different from the fragrances of previous years, where there are better relatives than those from Aldi.
But now to the unassuming scent from the bottle. It is practical and simple, and instead of a cardboard box, there’s a tin can in which you can store scattered pieces and similar items over the summer after Christmas. At least that’s what I do. But for the price of 4.99 euros, I don’t expect a bottle made of lead crystal.
A quick spray on the skin and I was smitten. The opening is a bit citrusy with a hint of apricot and peach. Then comes the powdery violet. The fruits faded and the violet remained. Then heliotrope, ylang-ylang (but only subtly), and a bit of summer flower garden joined in. Rounded and complete for me. The violet still didn’t want to leave. But the other scents became weaker. Now amber, sandalwood, and musk joined in. Together with the previous scents, it created a harmonious, slightly powdery, and elegant experience. Longevity around five hours.
Memories surfaced, and then I also had the big relative back in my mind. This is a scent very similar to Soir de Paris. But it was the new perfume, not the old one from 1928, that was the inspiration here.
Anyone looking for an elegant scent that stands out without being out of place will be well served. It fits almost any occasion, but is more suited to classic clothing and not for the disco. Wearable all year round. Well, not necessarily at 40 degrees in the shade. For the price, it’s a very good fragrance.

They're just copying something quite well-known. That's probably why Tresor was the inspiration.

I now have three different scents under that label in my cabinet. Each one is a different dupe. But even the dupes that come out throughout the year are always a bit different.

Sounds like a job for the research team if One 4 Her is a different dupe every year. Then we’d need a separate page for each year.

Oh, that sounds great. I'll buy it right away. Thanks for the awesome tip!
