Right after applying, the zesty acidity of the rhubarb makes my mouth water. In fact, during the first hour of wearing it, I primarily perceive the rhubarb on my skin, spiced with a hint of black currant. In this initial wearing phase, the sourness and bitterness clearly dominate. When I smell it, I think less of rhubarb pie or rhubarb compote, and more of a refreshing rhubarb spritzer. I love rhubarb, and I associate both its scent and taste with spring.
Slowly and subtly, a hint of peony begins to emerge, which intensifies over the next few hours and soon takes over. Now the fragrance has no sourness left; instead, it feels clean, fresh, delicately floral, and somehow velvety, reminding me of the sensation I get when I brush over the petals of a peony. The sillage, after the initial sour and quite intense freshness kick, is rather weak, making this a fragrance that I have all to myself after about an hour. However, on my skin, it is very long-lasting and accompanies me for many hours. For me, it is the epitome of spring.
