An 80s Goddess

I began wearing Bijan in the late 80s -love at first whiff, the most beautiful honeyed amber floriental fumes, with a touch of cola! Having not bought a new bottle in over a decade I was frightened about reformulation ruining my beautiful girl. At first I was sad after purchasing a new bottle. The lovely smell was still there, but somehow flatter, less sparkle. I wore her anyway because she was decidedly still pretty, just not the goddess what she once was.

That was last winter. I live in a hot coastal climate where we basically have three seasons, hot, molten lava, and cold. Bijan is a tad heady for warm weather wear; so there the bottle sat in a dark corner at the back of my perfume shelf for a year. Then this past November something magical happened. As the first chilly winds of winter wound their way through the trees I reached for her again. To my delighted nose, there she was! The heavenly amber juice, with its honey-floral-cola sparkle was back. I’m so relieved the time macerating did the trick. I notice only that she’s slightly lighter than older versions, otherwise Bijan is still the gorgeous amber goddess my nose remembers.
