big bright beautiful bubblegum pink rose
about me: 30s, introverted, nonbinary (perceived fem), working in medical.
source: 5 mL bottle, sale/swap
year: unknown
price: $33 for 5mL
current season: winter, late afternoon
priming method: glycerin cream
hydration level: moderate
application: moderate
masked: no
wet: a bright rose, definitely pink in color, and i never knew i was someone who was capable of distinguishing rose colors in scents but here we are.
dry: still drying at 10 minutes. rose is typically problematic on me (it usually turns to soap in indies/oils and fruit in designer/edps) and i hadnt known that when i blind-bought this back in september but surprisingly enough so far so good. if i concentrate really hard i can maybe get a sense of the orris? but for the most part this is bright pink rose through-and-through. unambiguously feminine and slightly "girly," but nothing one couldnt wear in their 30s/40s. i would definitely have to be feeling very fem to wear this. color impression is #ffb5da (a perfect bubblegum pink).
45 minutes in: sweetness coming out in the throw, which is actually larger than i had first expected, about arm's-length. i would be cautious not to overapply. this is well-blended -- cant pick out any individual notes, but they all come together and synthesize to make a creamy, rosy, cool-toned, full, rounded scent. this is truly beautiful, and though it's sweeter than i usually prefer, i'll gladly make an exception for this.
2 hours in: balance has shifted -- now the orris butter has taken precedence over the rose (though the latter is still present), with the vanilla making an appearance for the first time. still feminine, less "girly" than before, thanks to the orris. at this stage, it does sort of begin to have a crowd-pleaser designer/mainstream feel to it, but it isnt fully designer/mainstream in the sense that i dont get walloped over the head with certain ubiquitous rose combos (Lychee Rose Eau de Parfum, Rose Whip, Covered in Roses Eau de Parfum, Roses Vanille Eau de Parfum, all of you have disappointed me).
4 hours in: throw is down to the skin, and it's surprisingly intense still -- more like it was in the earlier stages before the vanilla kicked in, a bpal-typical drydown but with significant rosy presence and a bit of orris.
6 hours in: fading away. i will miss this! what a beautiful scent.
verdict: keep
gender impression: feminine
office-friendly: yes
crowd-pleaser: yes
