Vernissage
"Just like your favorite cocktail dress, Bobbi's Party fragrance is bound to put you in a festive mood (even when you're in a t-shirt and jeans)."
This is the description on Bobbi Brown's homepage, and the "festive mood" that the fragrance is supposed to evoke actually reminds one more of formal occasions than of a carefree party atmosphere.
Thus, it is not surprising that rose & violet feature in this composition, which are often considered mature and somewhat old-fashioned floral notes.
The violet stands out - more strongly on the scent strip, fortunately less so on my skin - with a strong soapy character, giving the fragrance a harsh, strict, almost aseptic note, which is rather unpleasantly emphasized by a soapy rose instead of being softened - in my opinion, this is not a cozy scent, as the sandalwood also adds a rather edgy note to the overall composition. After quite a while, the fragrance becomes a bit softer, but the violet remains dominant.
Overall, a scent for the aloof, androgynous appearance at the vernissage of misunderstood art classics. If "festive mood," "celebratory atmosphere" means celebrating an attitude - then yes, it fits.
And those who open the wooden drawer and curiously discover their grandmother's violet soap & combine it with a postmodern designer outfit to the irritation of all flâneurs might just love this fragrance. Maybe.
