301 Amber, Cardamom and Sandalwood from Bon Parfumeur - Expensive and underwhelming

This review is based on a sample I got from Bon Parfumeur. 301 Amber, Cardamom and Sandalwood from Bon Parfumeur is very disappointing perfume. The name promises so much, but it ends up with a weak, confused mess.

The opening notes listed on the website are cumin, jasmine and cardamom. The notes I get are leather, some kind of solvent and some vague floral notes. The leather notes I smell may be some kind of synthetic cumin. If you are expecting Le Male because of the cardamom and sandalwood, you will be sorely disappointed. It doesn’t get any better with the heart notes and the base notes either. There are hints of cedar and sandalwood in the heart notes, but these are really weak and muddled. Everything comes to a close in 3-4 hours. All that remains on my skin is a slight hint of patchouli. This is a really bad performance for a perfume that is marked as intense.

I don’t feel like elaborating such an underwhelming scent. As there are 64 five-star reviews on their website, I am hoping to hear some disagreement from fellow perfume enthusiasts who have used 301. Maybe, my olfactory receptors cannot sense the molecules in 301. From my perspective, this one is not worth it at any price.
