Bond No. 9 is surrounded by rumors and opinions full of criticism regarding quality and price, similar to Creed. And I can understand this more here than with Creed. Too many fragrances, too many quick shots, often little new or inspiring, and a price that is set more than €100 too high. In contrast, there is the ultra-cool and luxurious design, the fragrance materials of mostly high quality, a few masterpieces like Chinatown or New Harlem, and of course my still quite manageable experience with this stylish niche house.
After seeing the fragrance positively featured in YouTube reviews several times, I tested it today in the wonderful perfumery Vollmar in Bonn. My first time there, a spontaneous decision, as the highways towards Wuppertal were closed, I simply drove in the other direction to test and wait until the highways were clearer again. Not regretted one bit (except for the parking ticket) - an impressive perfumery!
Andy Warhol immediately reminded me of something; I first thought I had tested it before. Because this Oud-fruit was extremely familiar to me. Then I realized: Laliques LHommage dHomme smells extremely similar.
Oud is recognizable, but very classy, fruity, and bright-dry. The plum adds an extra kick, and Mr. Warhol would surely have enjoyed this fragrance. Furthermore, I perceive rose, vanilla, and incense. It also somewhat reminds me of Wonderwood. Very styled, sexy, romantic, and hip. Fortunately, the Oud trend is fading, but I am glad about such pleasant drops. A perfect Valentine's Day fragrance, which is, however, limited and simply too expensive.
Longevity is very good at 10 hours, sillage strong and poppy like the master's famous paintings, and the bottle is a cool piece. Even if there are prettier designs^^
Overall, a great Oud-plum, perhaps a bit too dark and gray if one only knows Warhol's art. But perhaps more fitting to the person himself...
