White musk and pink blossoms
Softly Eau Petales smells like dewy, fresh roses and cherry blossoms on a bed of white musk. This scent uses a classic clean drugstore musk that feels very cozy and familiar to me. Nothing animalic or harsh here. The lovely rice note only comes out in the drydown, and it's more powdery than foody. Everything about this is very pretty and fits the shade of pink of the bottle perfectly.
Due to the cherry blossom note and the soft floral vibe, I immediately categorized this a spring scent in my head. But in the end, it's a clean, powdery musk first and foremost, and these are an easy reach for daytime year round.
This is a calm, slightly sweet, fluffy scent, very inoffensive and not especially innovative, but not too boring to wear. In the Jil Sander lineup, it sits somewhere between the original Softly and Simply Eau Poudrée. I hoped for a stronger rice note and maybe a little more definition in general, that way it might have been bottle-worthy for me. The way it is, I still like it a lot, but there are other white musks I like even more. Performance-wise it's below average in my opinion, though I think that's fine for this kind of fragrance and the affordable price range it's in.
