Will we ever feel young again?
Bruno Banani Man is a special fragrance for me. Dedicating a comment to this scent is a matter of the heart. Together with Bruno Banani's Magic Man, it was one of my first self-purchased fragrances. I still remember the circumstances very clearly: I was on the Bruno Banani website to order some fashion items from this brand. The two fragrances caught my eye without me ever having tested them. I was exactly 21 years old. Before that, I had only used the fragrances I received as gifts. I was far from having a passion for scents like I do now.
Since I had little to no expectations of fragrances back then, I liked both scents. I liked this Bruno Banani Man even more than Magic Man. I felt well accompanied by it and used it often. In hindsight, I don't see this fragrance as a youthful mistake. I stand by this scent, and I still love it today, even though I wear it rarely. When I spray it on, I look back with melancholy. Since the sense of smell is strongly connected to long-term memory, such flashbacks are not unusual.
Memories of youth are often very beautiful because you are simply free. You live from day to day without really thinking much. The time around 20 is a beautiful time for me. The mix of youthful carefreeness, groundedness, and simply the curiosity for the new. Just these emotions are something very special. Also, the feelings at this age are very intense. When I spray the fragrance today, many memories resurface.
After some digressions about the scent: I like it today just as much as I did back then. Probably even better because of the memories. I used to wear it on every occasion, whether it was winter or midsummer. Today, I would rather wear it exclusively on cold to mild days. It has a light heaviness that doesn’t feel too thick. Theoretically, it is a year-round fragrance, although I would recommend it most for spring and autumn.
In terms of scent, it is very multifaceted. It has freshness, sweetness, spiciness, and also woody and slightly powdery accents. I like such fragrances that don't lean too strongly in one direction. It has a beautiful lavender note, and anise is also perceptible here. For me, this is a composition where you can't really pick out many individual notes. It is truly a composition that convinces as a whole. The sweetness is well noticeable with tonka bean and vanilla, although it is not too vanilla-heavy. I love this tonka bean sweetness in many fragrances. Overall, it is a feel-good composition that stands out and could earn you some compliments.
The performance is very good for a drugstore fragrance. Sillage and longevity are convincing across the board.
I love this scent. In my comment, there are more digressions than scent descriptions. Memories and emotions are what make a fragrance special to me. The best fragrance is worthless if it doesn’t move you.
