Timeless old-school pure
Those who know the Eau de Toilette will know how this heavenly After Shave smells.
For those who are unfamiliar, it will be very difficult to get an exact answer. In my opinion, it is truly a "fragrance explosion" that combines several scent directions and makes one melt away.
The Brut After Shave is, like the Eau de Toilette, very pleasantly fresh, green-sweet, slightly woody, and beautifully powdery at the same time - it makes you dream... of a beautiful dark green forest followed by sun, beach, and sea, or of a majestic castle surrounded by a royal garden that houses the most beautiful flowers.
It is definitely not a typically masculine scent/After Shave, rather a tender and reserved one.
Unfortunately, the longevity is not exactly the strongest; it could definitely be better. However, you can enhance it a bit with Brut's other products (shower gel, deodorant spray, deodorant).
A classic that will never go out of style.

Men Who Dream of Flowers
The message that this fragrance wants to convey is unfortunately not something I can quite grasp. It bears the name "Brut" (French for "bitter") and the subtitle "The Essence of Man" (English for "The Essence of Man" or "The Main Thing About Men," or something like that, ahem). It is colorless but filled into a toxic green bottle with a very strange shape (Tip-Ex?). The advertising images show really tough muscular men (one with a bandaged hand from the last boxing match).

The scent, on the other hand, somehow starts off alcoholically-synthetic for a short time, also a bit piercing (my breathing becomes shallow and I think, I don’t really like this, could it be toxic?), only to transition after about a minute into a sultry-floral continuum that doesn’t really change significantly until the end, which approaches after about 1-2 hours. I find rose geranium, ylang-ylang, and jasmine, as well as vanilla and patchouli, very understandable here; the supposedly present fresh top notes of lavender, citrus stuff, and basil seem to be somehow omitted for me, and the "more masculine" parts of the base notes like oakmoss and vetiver, well, I don’t know. Maybe they are somehow there.

In the comments about the EdT (which has surprisingly been commented on quite often, while here for the aftershave there’s nothing, not even a statement), the EdT scent (which is represented with an identical fragrance pyramid) was astutely described by a fellow Parfumo user as one of the few existing "florientals" (floral-oriental fragrances) aimed at men. That seems accurate to me.

I don’t have any issues with orientals and flowers per se; I even occasionally wear distinctly feminine fragrances, but I somehow can’t quite deal with this thing here (floriental? fougère? Bitter? For boxers who sniff flowers like Ferdinand the Bull?).

Technical addendum: I bought this artifact (perhaps a bit hastily) in Vancouver, Canada, where in all about 10 drugstores and supermarket drugstore sections I visited, there were exactly the same 5 or 6 aftershaves, of which this one still seemed the most bearable to me (poor Canadians). On the back, it is noted that the product was manufactured in Mexico on behalf of the company "Helen of Troy" (also funny in the ultra-masculine context: Helen of Troy, aka "the beautiful Helen"). One of the EdT comments indeed reveals that several companies worldwide are allowed to brew the stuff under license, including this one.

Loved wearing it as a kid. Simple. Clean. But revisiting it now with a more developed nose, there's just something unpleasantly mentholated about it.

Where do all these fantasy scent notes come from? I smell: lavender, smooth citrus, ylang-ylang, vanilla, a little jasmine, and otherwise °°°

Old school with a pleasant powdery note without drifting too much into barbershop territory. Slightly sweet, fresh, and beautifully woody-masculine.

One of my favorite aftershaves. Simply dreamy. Very old school, but totally justified. My dad had this in the 80s. Cheers!
