Great Refreshment of a Beautiful Fragrance
Even though Bvlgari doesn't come off too well here: One of my favorite brands. So far, I have never tested one from this house that I didn't like. My favorite is of course the Aqva line, but the Bvlgari Man line is also an extremely great series. I first got the original Man and then the father of the sub-line Man in Black. Due to its great success, there are several flankers of this sub-line. So far, I have only tested this Cologne, which I liked very much and finally purchased a few days ago. It's not that easy to find online, as it is often sold out or possibly discontinued. Luckily, I found a bottle for 50 Euro/100ml.
Before we get to this flanker, a few words about Man in Black: It is a fragrance that is a valuable addition to the collection. Similar to this flanker, it has a strong boozy rum note and is very masculine yet sensual with soft nuances. A great fragrance for the evening on cooler days.
Now to the Black Cologne: This is clearly a refreshment without too many changes like many other well-known summer/sport/cologne/fresh/aqua flankers. The DNA of the original is always present, and the scent is very strongly based on it. I like such refreshers of heavier fragrances because they provide a unique scent for warmer days. Here, Alberto Morillas has launched a great lighter version. Perfect for mild and warm days, but also for people who enjoy wearing fresher scents. When thinking of Cologne, one usually imagines very light fresh-citrusy fragrances. This is not the case here. Nevertheless, it is pleasant to wear at temperatures up to about 25 degrees. Thanks to the boozy note, it is also very good for summer evenings or nights.
As a brief scent description, one can say that it offers boozy rum refreshed with citrus and slightly floral notes. As mentioned: Very close to the original, but here softer. This chosen freshness fits perfectly with the Man in Black DNA. While the original comes off very masculine, this creation is noticeably softer and clashes much less. Nevertheless, it convinces with a lot of uniqueness. The dry-down is also very good with plenty of sandalwood. There is also a pleasant, not too sticky sweetness present. Overall, for me, a very rounded and pleasant composition.
Performance is similar to the original: Not Champions League but convincing, especially for a Cologne concept. It definitely lasts for several hours and has good sillage.
For me, the best so far in the Man line. Especially since it can be used versatile thanks to the freshness. Also suitable for everyday wear despite the rum note. If you like the original, you should definitely test this one as well. A great choice, especially for summer evenings.
