In Search of Tea

Vacation flashback, Day 6 on Norderney:

First, I need to rest after a restless night. I couldn't fall asleep well and wonder if it was due to the island's silence. Our usual street concert from the big city is absent. That's good; it brings relaxation. Theoretically… because it always takes a little while for the body to adjust to this new situation, even if it is healing for the soul.

Today, I simply stay lying down and read the entertaining little book "The Café on the Edge of the World" in one go. I try to enjoy the silence, which is currently interrupted by loud birdsong. Why do we do this so rarely at home?

Time for a long-overdue test: Bulgari - Eau Parfumée au Thé Noir is up next.

My first impression: smoky, oppressive oud, with black tea very subtly in the background. Hopefully, it will develop a bit more! So let's see how the scent evolves.

In the meantime, I tidy up our holiday apartment and wonder where we get the ability to completely devastate our temporary habitat in such a short time. Even the birds observe a moment of silence in accusation, or was it because a large seagull crossed its flight?

A second sniff reveals to me that the scent is still musty. Too bad, I'm just not an oud fan. Only this perfume from Clean Reserve, Sueded Oud, has managed to win my heart. But back to Bulgari: black tea is subtly present, but if I hadn't known that this is a tea scent, I probably wouldn't have been able to identify that note, not to mention the stated rose essence.

A bit depressed, I now have to admit that I still find the scent musty after an hour and am a little glad about the low longevity of this Eau Parfumée.

Yes, oud,
a good idea overall.
But in terms of smell,
mostly yuck.

I'm curious to see what I'll find in my sample. Enjoyed reading this.

Beautiful vacation days. And I'm not an Oud fan either. At least I haven't found an Oud scent that I wanted to wear. On men, though, it can really work well :)

I usually don't like Oud either.

Bvlgari and Oud? I can't really picture that being appealing either. The only fragrance with black tea that I found authentic was Illuminum's "Tribal Black Tea." A lovely pot/cup with delicious black Assam tea...

You get this wonderful peace... and can't find peace for all the peace around you ;-)) I know that feeling! And regarding the scent: Yes, there's Oud in it. Compared to other Oud fragrances, it's not even that strong, but still a bit overwhelming. I'm still undecided about this Bulgari... Trophy completely without mustiness for you :-))
