Quite different than expected
Right at the beginning I have to say quite clearly: I was expecting more old-fashioned dust and leather from the name. That wouldn't have been a bad thing, I like that. But now I'm very happy to have been surprised here.
The main note that I perceive most in Bibliotheque is a very deep, engaging, warming plum. This is underlaid with a beautiful powdery violet note, but subtle. Hidden underneath is the leather, but in my opinion it never dominates. All in all, a magical composition that has immediately become one of my favorite fragrances!
I would never have come up with the name just from the scent, but I do understand how the association comes about. This is clearly not a purpose-built city library, but long corridors lined with dark wood and housing the first editions of the great poets and thinkers. The panels creak underfoot with every step. The last rays of the setting autumn sun fall through the stained glass windows.
