But it would've been fun if you would've been the one

The "Original" CK One has been a staple in my perfume collection since the 90s. Some of the numerous summer and other variants have also found their way into my collection for a time and were quite pleasing, so I was very curious about the announcement of "CK One Essence | Calvin Klein." The pyramid makes my heart flutter, except for the incense!

So here comes the bottle, designed in the typical CK One style, very chic in silver metallic. Thanks to the design, you can still see the fill level!
Just for you today, the comparison test with the original CK One Eau de Toilette on the other arm AND also on my test subject aka husband (short: GG ....too bad I can't post pictures here, his facial expression was priceless - he doesn't like wearing perfume, and the prospect of two scents at once didn't exactly make him jump for joy).

ON HIM: great peppery start with soft lemon, could also be lime; no blood orange and no trace of tea anywhere
ON ME: hardly any pepper, no tea either, but significantly more almost biting citrus (just barely avoiding a cleaner association) and it turns green much faster.

after 30+ min:
ON HIM: the scent can't quite decide between green and aquatic, but it's nice and fresh - the CK One tested in parallel shows slightly more residual fruit and is significantly less present at the same dosage.
ON ME: Essence has opted for aquatic, I don't smell any geranium. Sporty fresh but almost too masculine for my unisex-loving taste. GG agrees with me and said that the little bit more "edge" it has on me would be wearable for him, but on me, it comes across as sport shower gel-like. CLEAR difference on the skin compared to CK One - the original is softer on me (more musk), white-green instead of blue.

Towards the end:
For both of us, CK One Essence dries down to a woody-spicy finish, interestingly more bitter on me than on my husband. I suspect the moss-incense combo; I haven't really warmed up to it yet. So I like the scent - but I prefer it on men rather than on me!
For both of us, the longevity and sillage of Essence were significantly stronger than that of the original. Fairness requires considering that CK One is "only" an EdT. The price has always been great anyway.

So to make it short: NO - CK One Essence is not CK One Eau de Toilette "just stronger"! I like it a lot, but I think it will suit men better, and I predict a 80/20 percent split among owners here later. My bottle will probably have to find a new owner, my GG looked too panicked when I said he could use up the bottle ;)
It is a great, fresh, sporty, and depending on the skin, green or aquatic summer scent that does without sweetness and floral notes. A solid office and everyday fragrance!

Yes, scents like that just suit guys better, like sporty shower gels.

I find it tends to be more masculine and sharper/spritzier compared to the very soft EdT.
