I'm not gonna talk about Star Wars this time, I'm sure of it!
Hello folks, welcome to a new comment from me. Today I will report about Léa of Calypso St. Barth. You can see that for Star Wars fans the name of the fragrance sounds like Leia, the Alderaan princess and later head of state of the New Republic, where they... uh... okay, I didn't want to report about Star Wars... crap...!
After all, this is a woman's scent and you are absolutely interested in the star war saga NULL,... if you knew what you were missing :D

Well then, I'm just babbling about Léa, the nice little scent that no one knows for sure. I've never heard of this fragrance either, even though I spend 30 hours a day here in every corner of Parfumo just to get on your nerves!

In any case, Calypso St. Barth was a clothing brand that also released a few fragrances and recently closed its doors. Well, I didn't know the brand, so I can't say much more about it, but of course it's always a pity for all the fans of this brand. But above all it's a pity, because Calypso seemed to have made quite good scents, too, because I think that this scent is quite successful here!

The fragrance:
At the beginning I smell a lot of almonds, which is sweetish, slightly powdery and a little heavy. In the background there are citric notes, but these do not loosen up the scent, but together with the almond they look more like a delicious fruit cake with vanilla/almond aroma.
A little later the fragrance becomes a bit more flowery, you can smell some ylang-ylang and the sweetness of jasmine, but the beautiful, slightly bitter almond fragrance remains the main fragrance. The sweet scents blend with the sweetness of vanilla over time, giving the fragrance more powderiness.
In the base one smells tonka bean and musk on further sweet notes for a short time, but the vanilla soon becomes stronger, so that one basically only smells vanilla as far as sweet and powdery notes are concerned. The almonds also remain for a while, which should please everyone who stands on almonds. Much later the almond notes gradually fade away or become weaker, so that, how should it be any different with intense vanilla notes, later only the vanilla smells.

The Sillage and the shelf life:
The Sillage has turned out rather weak for an almond fragrance. It may still look strong when sprayed on, but it weakens considerably in the next few minutes, so that you can probably only smell it from close up. Despite the vanilla, the shelf life is not excessively long, which means you get six to seven hours, and that's just the way it is. That's okay, but after half this time the scent is already quite weak.

The bottle:
The bottle has been kept simple by its rectangular shape and has name and logo printed directly on it instead of having a label. The brownish plant motifs, which can also be seen on the front, embellish the bottle enormously, which also sets it apart from the other simple bottles. The lid is chrome-plated and also rectangular (but slightly inflated). Everything's okay and nice to look at.

Soo, Léa is a simple, sweet and gourmand scent, which smells very good, but shows big weaknesses in the Sillage, because it seems to radiate soon after spraying somehow quite small. Nevertheless, this doesn't change the fact that it smells good and where I am sure that you ladies might like the scent, or also us guys at you ladies :)

It reminds of well made, almond-shaped scents of well-known and bigger manufacturers like the scents of Guerlain (e.g. L'Instant Magic), which are all wonderful scents as well. I think it's nice that the Ylang-Ylang doesn't smell very sultry here, which usually bothers me so much personally.

The fragrance is highly recommended in any case, but I doubt you will find it anywhere. But you don't have to be too sad, because he smells like Guerlain etc. very similar. Otherwise, the fragrance would be best used in spring and autumn, as it is neither particularly light nor really heavy. And despite the low charisma I would have recommended him for the evening or to go out, because he really smells delicious to you ladies :)

That's it again. I wish you all a nice evening, you "see each other", until then! :D

A touch of the Caribbean in the Federal Republic of Germany
That's the kind of guy I'm gonna miss painfully. I've probably bought Léa two or three times already. I became aware of the fragrance when we could still have luckyscent send us fragrances to Germany. It's been a while. At some point I had a bottle that I liked and then I had to get the first original bottle. Unfortunately this is mostly the case with me....

Léa is sweet, wonderful, beautiful, does not disturb or annoy anyone and lifts the mood. I like this delicate almond vanilla combo that gently caresses you. The shelf life could be slightly better, but especially on hot days I find Léa always fits, because he is never too much. A fragrance which - similar to Lostmarch's LANN AEL - cannot be overdosed at all.

Although Léa is a Caribbean fragrance and should smell like beach, palm trees, coconuts and the sea, in the transitional period from spring to summer here in southern Germany I always perceive a similar fragrance in the air. Is it just me, or can there be any truth to it? If I sniff this note, I like to apply Léa afterwards absolutely :)

Very, very sad that he leaves. Always the beautiful ones leave us

Very helpful Review 11
I've always loved you.
That's him, all right. The only scent I'm currently giving 10 points for.

It must have been 2011 when I got it at the Beautyjunkies for bottling. Fits, I thought. Just what I like: creamy almond, some amarettini, my beloved woodruff tonka note. And put it in my scent box. I'm sure I had him there.
I kept looking for scents, it could be even better, even more exciting, I was in a testing mood. From the gourmands I came across powder scents and experimental things and at some point bought myself something like Molecule 01. But I didn't really feel comfortable with it in everyday life. That wasn't me.

Sometime in spring 2019, I went back to my old scent box. He was still there, we hadn't seen each other for a long time, but he hadn't changed since 2011. For me exactly the right balance of Gourmand and a sexy More behind it. Soft, creamy, appetizing, but not too edible. It has a dark, feminine, slightly bitter note. But always harmonious and embedded in marzipan. Now I finally wanted him. I had tried enough, I knew myself a bit better by now and stopped trying to portray something I'm not. That scent, that was me.

Well. Production seems to have stopped. Since then I have been looking for it on eBay and Kleiderkreisel every day, have a request in the souk and hope... I'm left with a half-empty, 20ml brown glass bottle. As long as I don't have it, I won't wear it or only on very special occasions.

Sillage: not pushy. It's more like it's perceptible to oneself. You don't have to sniff it, it blows around you here and there in a pleasant way, but stays close by.

Durability: Could be better for hours, but a warm drydown stays on the skin for a long time. Durability over the years: Excellent, does not tip over, will probably stay young forever.

And to complete the kitschy commentary I would like to dedicate the song "I have always loved you" by Enrique Iglesias to Léa von St. Barth. Writing it down would probably be a copyright violation, but the text is googleable.

Almond Jelly Roll With Raspberry Filling
Yummy! This is a beautiful natural smelling warm weather vanilla cake scent with just a touch fruit jam hidden in the middle. The vanilla in Léa melts into the skin quickly, while the fruit stays on top providing a low sillage skin scent with a clean white musky base and a touch of Tonka for added allure. The benzoin and ylang in this composition don't really stand out for the first hour. The top of this is all edible sweetness, with being too cloyingly sweet. This is one of those fruity vanilla floral gourmands that blows my mind because I see that it has actually floral notes, but I smell a delicious edible food product...with hints of almond and a touch of buttery goodness, my stomach is totally confused and hungry. The dry down becomes even more seductive as the tonka, white musk and ylang unfold smoothing out with that soft pillow of benzoin, consider this a less artificially sweetened version of Comptoir Sud Pacifique's Vanille Abricot. If you're a Vanilla fan, this should definitely be included on your test list. 'Nom nom nom!'

a simple, unfrosted angel food cake
Lea from Calypso St. Barth's is a, pretty, pillowy perfume of vanilla, musk and almond; it's not overpowering and as a matter of fact, it's fairly delicate. Think a simple, unfrosted angel food cake as opposed to a gargantuan many-layered Milkbar confection. I actually love to layer this with the sharp, crisp lavender of Gris Clair from Serge Lutens. Together these fragrances lend depth where nuance is lacking in one and buff out the bitter edges of the other. Think lavender vanilla bean shortbread cookie bath bomb bedtime treat.
