I've heard a lot about Carolina Herrera's iconic (and for some, tacky) heel bottles. I do love a beautiful, well-designed bottle of perfume and this one stands out to me so I wasn't bothered by it. I was curious to smell the OG perfume as I've smelled in-store the flankers of this line.
This time the almond is powdery and nutty, giving off an earthy vibe as its coupled with coffee beans. I'm not a great fan of coffee beans in perfume as it sometimes gives off this acrid (almost sour note) on my skin. It unfortunately did that a little bit in the beginning. Thankfully, the coffee bean note only leaves behind this earthy vibe as the perfume moves forward. There are a lot of notes in the middle and if I didn't have them in front of me, I wouldn't know what to look for. The heart of the perfume gives off a luxury body lotion scent: creamy, warm, comforting and envelopping. When looking at the notes, I can say there's the praline's creaminess, the white floral's creamy floral accords, and a bit of spice coming from the cinnamon. It's nice although there's this backgroun powdery accord that didn't vibe as much to my nose. I can see this perfume being worn at work (if not oversprayed) but also for a night out. Makes me feel like a put-together woman, elegant and pretty. The drydown moves toward a powdery and woody scent that is still reminiscent of a body lotion. It borders close to the line of dark, but never going completely there.
All in all, it's an iconic and classic perfume for a reason. It is quite lovely, but the powdery accord I could smell on my skin (coming from the almond, coffee, praline, and coca) is what turned me off. Take this with a grain of salt: I've already discovered I'm not a fan of coffee beans and cocoa, so although it might not fit me, it still exists for a reason.
