Traces of Orange

After the regular Déclaration, we now have the “L'Essence” edition. However, this is a completely different fragrance. With partially similar components, a whole different scent character has been realized.

Upon spraying, I first smell - vodka. Really very alcoholic. It takes a brief moment, then I perceive a scent that reminds me of Autan mosquito repellent. Fortunately, that passes quickly. A few citrus notes, and then the fragrance returns to the vodka. I now believe I smell something akin to grain. Perhaps also something floral, but very minimal. After a while, a hint of orange becomes noticeable.

L’Essence de Déclaration is much more reserved than the original Déclaration. There’s no macho attitude, but rather emphasized restraint. It is slightly sweet, but still. I find it difficult to categorize it into a specific fragrance direction. The individual components are understandable if you know the fragrance pyramid. I do notice some identity with the original Déclaration, but what has emerged is something much slimmer and more modern. L’Essence de Déclaration is most closely associated with the theme of orange, but even that is executed with extreme restraint. There’s no comparison with strong orange perfumes like Orange Spice by Creed or the orange waters from Hermès.

In the drydown, the orange bids farewell to an unspectacular woodiness.

Once again, a perfume for men who seek only a light background but do not want to spread perfume clouds around them. The very light orange is only subtly fresh, but very natural. It is far removed from the chemical freshness wonders like Bulgari Acqua Marine or Kenneth Cole's Reaction T-Shirt. As with the original Déclaration, I am convinced by the high quality at a moderate price. Just like in the original Déclaration, the longevity could be better here as well.
