Bois des Iles is one of the most perfect fragrances ever created. It is really hard to believe that this beauty was created in 1926 by the legendary perfumer of Russian-French origin Ernest Beaux.
In the opening there are nice citruses, but you can immediately feel sandalwood and ylang-ylang as well as, of course, my favorite aldehydes. Probably Chanel is my favorite house precisely because of the aldehydes, I love their DNA, and this perfume definitely has a typical Chanel gene.
Sandalwood and ylang-ylang are still present in the drydown, but they are joined by woody notes as well as beautiful vanilla. Essentially, the pillars of this perfume are sandalwood, ylang-ylang, aldehydes and vanilla.
The whole composition of notes smells classy, elegant and refined. It is definitely in my top 5 perfumes. Bois des Iles is olfactory perfection. Completely unisex.
I received great compliments from girls, which makes me very happy, but also surprising because this is a very retro perfume. Jacques Polge, one of the best French perfumes, modernized this perfume in 2016 and revived this masterpiece.
Longevity is good, it lasts about 12 hours, the projection for the first two hours is fantastic as well as the wonderful trail it leaves, later it calms down but still gives a wonderful scent cloud hours later.
