Pour Monsieur - a masterpiece of men's wardrobe

I have here the "Pour Monsieur" by Chanel as an eau de toilette. It is the only men's fragrance that Coco Chanel herself launched and it is rumored that she had been inspired here and there by certain gentlemen.

"Pour Monsieur" - for the gentleman - establishes its intended use in its very name. It is a Cypriot fragrance, a bit of wood and oak moss is also there. The bottle is simple, monolithic without useless flourishes, the perfume itself spills cheerfully green-yellow under the technically impeccable atomizer.

"Pour Monsieur", well let's see. Pfft - immediately comes the genie in the form of a citrusy hammer cloud to the appearance and calls the images of hectically 4711-Tuchlein dabbing bestager ladies in the head. So please, dear Coco, what were you thinking?
After a few moments, the Kölsch bomb wears off and gives way to a fresh summery scent. Yes, it gets much better. Much better. Much much better! A bit of peony, a bit of ginger and then I also notice the slightly tart cedar wood note and the oak moss. The scent gets its egg... pardon, masculinity and is now unmistakably made for Mr. Monsieur. He smells wonderfully organic and should there be synthetic ingredients, they are very well concealed.

"Pour Monsieur" doesn't roar around ten blocks, it's not fairy dust for babos, and it's certainly not a badass lork for professional killers, but exactly the serene, buoyant perfume that Pan Tau wears under his jacket. Or Bang Peter Johannsen, maybe even Egon Olsen himself, yes yes it would fit him well.

"Pour Monsieur" is a child of the fifties and you can tell. Rather plain, but very high quality workmanship. The good French put on Sundays, when you go freshly shaved and at least in the combination suit, better with three-piece and hat from the house. A cheerful, serious signature for gentlemen outside of any youth mania, who have at least exceeded the forties, rather the fifties.
The Chanel undoubtedly has its target audience. It got me gna-den-less, I love this wonderful composition, this never again achieved mid-century elegance. Yes, I wear trench coats and suits.

Dear women who want to promptly run out and buy this piece for their better half: please don't. "Pour Monsieur" is not a gift that may lie camouflaged in glittery paper among comic socks and business ties under the year-end spruce. The risk of it eventually being re-gifted for the tenth time is far too great.
No, such a thing man always buys for himself - or else you are woman enough to wear this beautiful Chypre itself. It could work!

The durability on the skin I would like to rate as average. Already after 3-4 hours it remains very close to the body. Still 1-2 hours later, the Monsieur has resorted to his hat, but not without winking once again briefly appear, if you are physically up to it.

Please still note: "Pour Monsieur" Eau de Toilette and "Pour Monsieur" Eau de Parfum are two very different fragrances despite the same name. The EdP is much more vanilla and stronger. So when re-testing pay attention to it.
