Soy milk and generic vanilla tuberose...
Tubéreuse de Madras on my skin is mainly a milky tuberose. This once carnal flower is now devoid of camphor, butter, indole or anything animalic in Tubéreuse de Madras. It's so skimmed of fat that it kind of reminds me of soy milk at first, which is a surprising twist during the opening.

However, slowly but surely, the creamy sweetness of vanilla permeates every corner of the dry down. Tubéreuse de Madras eventually becomes a generic creamy musky vanilla tuberose until the end.

The fragrance mostly stays close to the skin during its 9-hour longevity.

Although the soy milk opening phase is quite interesting and the fragrance itself is mostly agreeable, the vanilla white floral dry down feels rather routine and commercial, and eventually falls flat compared to the many great tuberose perfumes before it. Considering its hight price and limited availability, I'm not sure it's special enough to worth the particular effort to track it down.

The Porcelain Figurine
Admittedly, tuberose was not exactly one of Can's favorite scents. But I bravely sacrificed myself to introduce you to the fifth Boucheron, Tubéreuse de Madras.
When I first smelled Tubéreuse de Madras, a scene from my early childhood immediately came to mind. I was maybe four years old when my grandmother took me on a trip to visit her sister in Munich. We visited Aunt Lotti. Aunt Lotti had lived in London for many years and, of course, had a lot of quirky stuff at her home.
Or running around, including a dog, a Pekingese she once brought from China, who answered to the name Chang-Ling.

In the living room stood a huge display cabinet full of porcelain figurines.
Since I was still very small, I could only see the bottom row; I didn't need to see more,
because "she" was there.
"She" was about twenty centimeters tall, had far too short chubby legs, wore a much too short blue dress, and had a round face with a nose that was either too small or hardly there at all.
"She" stood in a pose as if she were smelling something. With her little hands clasped behind her back, her upper body slightly bent forward and her nose held up to the wind.
Between you and me,... "she" was my first platonic love.
Fragile, delicate, fine, and indescribably feminine.
Tubéreuse de Madras would have been her scent!

Tubéreuse de Madras starts with a delicate fruity accord in the form of orange blossom.
Subtly citrusy and fruity. Passion fruit is also detectable, but it is hardly noticeable.
A gentle sweetness slowly creeps in, slightly boozy and alcoholic. In my opinion, that's the frangipani. Tuberose soon joins in, and the whole thing takes on a slightly sweet and liqueur-like floral note. One could describe it as a floral liqueur.
Tubéreuse de Madras also contains vanilla, here in the form of a dusty and dry vanilla. A slightly antique touch is added by the sandalwood. It tempers the floral aspect in a very pleasant way.

Conclusion
Tubéreuse de Madras is a stable yet finely delicate scent.
Fragile, tender but also latently present in a very special way.
Nostalgic yet modern and contemporary. For tuberose lovers, a must!
Longevity: 8 to 10 hours on average.
Sillage: Initially strong, but quickly settles to a good medium level.
Gender: Female, absolutely!!!

A beautiful neo-romantic tuberose scent. But with enough modernity in tow.
Beautifully and high-quality made.

To address the questions in advance.
Yes! This test was difficult for me.
And, no! ...my first platonic love did not shape my view of women.

Handcrafted luxury soap enriched with exotic flowers. A lovely vanilla-sandalwood base adds refinement. Not for wallflowers.

Chewing gum bubble pieces around a sensual mouth
a fateful dance with tuberose stems
almost numbed by the fall into sandalwood-creamy vanilla skin arms

Tuberose, I never wanted you, now I want you. Over and everywhere on me. It slowly consumes you, and you let it.

A successful tuberose scent, in my opinion. The delicate fruity notes and a brighter floral tone take away the narcotic effect of the tuberose.

Moderate tuberose paired with orange blossom, ylang, and frangipani, with a hint of the finest bourbon vanilla. A very high-quality scent.

Does Tuberose still have its fans?
Well, this one definitely has me - soft and creamy, silky smooth, without the heavy narcotic or gum-like scent.

Beautiful tuberose with a hint of orange blossom - soft base. Starts off strong, then settles down. A recommendation for anyone who loves tuberose.

Great orchestra with a thundering tuberose. Unfortunately, it feels very grumpy on me (sweet chewing gum and stuffy hairspray).

Wonderfully creamy, tropical flowers that never get too close.
A luxurious vacation at its finest in the Caribbean, right in the middle of winter :-)
