From Enthusiasm to Aversion

After seeing the fragrance pyramid of Chloé's Nomade here, I was immediately terribly curious ... because oak moss is not typically found in Chloé's mainstream fragrances. The combination with mirabelle and the very spartan use of fragrance notes also struck me as exciting.

In the meantime, I came across a much richer composition in another perfume forum ... namely:

Top notes: Mirabelle, Bergamot, Lemon, Orange
Heart notes: Freesia, Jasmine, Peach, Rose
Base: Oak moss, Amberwood, Patchouli, Musk

After finally testing Nomade today (in the perfumery), I can at least confirm some of the additional notes - even though I am quite bad at recognizing fragrance notes.

The scent starts fruity and sparkling, like a fizzy fruit sparkling wine. I really like this sparkling quality, as it makes the opening very invigorating and cheerful. It is quite obvious that there are a few citrus fruits involved.

Already here, I notice that the fragrance has a rather synthetic quality, but it doesn't bother me at all in this case. It smells "intentional" and not poorly made.

I couldn't name the flowers of the heart notes, but I did notice the peach - however, not with the sweet, cloying note that peach has in many sweet or even gourmand fragrances. To me, the scent remains sparkling-fresh with a slight fruity sweetness and a bitter note that resonates throughout.

Then the truly bitter and woody notes join in, and I particularly perceive patchouli. I cannot specifically smell the scent of oak moss. The base is woody-earthy-bitter ... even a bit green ... but it retains a faint, sparkling sweetness that is both fruity and floral (Jasmine?) ... and something warm is also involved (Musk?). The base is not soft but a bit scratchy, yet I find it just right and not piercing or unpleasant in any way.

Since I can only rely on the wrist test so far and did not find the best conditions for a sillage test on the way home from the perfumery, I unfortunately cannot report much on this aspect. However, the scent did not seem gentle to me but rather intense, without being intrusive.

The longevity cannot be assessed well with the wrist test either, as the fragrance molecules are constantly absorbed and hardly have a chance to survive for a few hours. But I would guess it is rather average.

Overall, I was very positively surprised by Nomade and feel that my great curiosity has been beautifully satisfied. At the moment, I am struggling with myself because I initially did not want to buy anything new ;) .

Addendum ... about 6 weeks later:
*******************************

Unfortunately, my perception of this scent has changed significantly. I tested it the first two times in the perfumery ... and today for the first time at home. Today, I find it far too sweet, too synthetic, and it seems of low quality. I even scrubbed it off because I found it loud, penetrating, and very unpleasant.

Strange how quickly the perception of a scent can change.

For me, it was exactly the opposite! First dislike, then love!
Your scent pyramid is really helpful! It aligns much more with what I’ve experienced!

I couldn't resist it. I couldn't get into the other "Chloés," but this one has something special. And my husband likes it on me too.
