"What's that burnt smell?"
What comes to mind when you hear Chrome Hearts? Most of you probably think of their high-end but expensive jewelry, exquisite leather jackets and vests. However, over the years Chrome Hearts has gone further and further out on a limb and now makes everything you can imagine: From truffle hoarders, to stethoscopes, to gas masks and Drake's custom 1 of 1 Rolls Royce - and among other things, they also offer a fragrance!
This fragrance is available exclusively at Chrome Hearts boutiques and authorized retailers. Otherwise you can only get it online via the official homepage, but you won't find it through distributors such as Douglas or similar. Many people may have never been to such a place, so let me explain what exactly I feel:
When I smell this fragrance, I see a man in a leather jacket, well groomed and extremely confident. In one of the classiest New York jazz bars with a skyline to Central Park, he sits in a sleek Bordeaux-colored armchair and comfortably drinks his cognac. In the foreground is a wood-burning fireplace. The gentle crackling of the fire and the mild aromas of the cognac carry him to a serene and peaceful mood. For me, this is the setting that this fragrance embodies.
It's rather unique, something you don't smell every day. Despite no similarities in terms of fragrance notes, for me it's like a classy version of "Replica - By the Fireplace | Maison Margiela" It's already very smoky and spicy for me in the opening, but gets a certain sweetness from the amber & coconut in the dry down. Although it is marketed as unisex, it is definitely on the masculine side for me due to the incense. H&S are also good, you can get 8h+ out of it! Another highlight is the bottle - in my opinion one of the most beautiful I've ever seen! Unfortunately, the lid is made of plastic - for 675€ I expect it to be made of metal. And I have to be honest, even though I think the fragrance itself is great, I can't see spending so much money on it, especially when it's only 50ml.
Conclusion: Only buy this fragrance if you are a perfume collector or Chrome Hearts lover. If you are looking for an alternative, the "Replica - By the Fireplace | Maison Margiela" should serve you well. And take my advice and try it first! A blind buy is an absolute no-go, this fragrance is not for everyone! But maybe it's perfect for you, so now it's your turn to test it!
