From Statement to Review
My first review was actually supposed to be just a statement until I realized I couldn't stop writing.
"Well, then it's a review after all."

"Wow, this is beautiful," was the first thing that came to my mind when I sniffed the fragrance for the first time on my forearm.
Fresh, clear, and authentic.
The scent starts off citrusy fresh. The lime reminds me of a freshly picked mandarin that releases its essential oils while being peeled.
After a while, the warmth of white cedar comes into play. I don't perceive coconut water. I find that a bit disappointing, as a hint of coconut water scent like Coconut fizz from Guerlain would have been perfect for me.
All in all, a very successful minimalist
composition that smells incredibly natural. Simply wonderful!

Vacation Scents and Me. Or the Girl with the Magic Powers Reloaded
I generally don’t like vacation scents. Especially not those that are supposed to evoke Caribbean vibes, the sound of the sea, beach flair, or even cocktail bar associations. There are certainly some fragrances that I associate with travel and southern regions, but not this kind. Either these scents are too artificial and sweet for me or too aquatic. Rarely does one with coconut & Co. actually stand out and surprise me positively.

But there’s this girl with magic powers that I recently wrote about. And today she enchanted me again. And of all things, with a vacation scent. And even with a coconut note. Okay, I admit it. If anyone can do it, it’s her and no one else.

Olivia Giacobetti’s Eau du Brésil is truly enchanting. The brand Cinq Mondes was completely unknown to me until now. When my dear Spatzl asked me what lovely scent she could send me for testing, I didn’t even have this one on my radar. Sure, coconut. Actually a no-go for me. If only I had taken a look at the perfumer. But Spatzl seemed to have sensed that I should get to know this scent anyway. And she was absolutely right.

This fine South American fragrance may not make it to my list of candidates for purchase, but I can very well imagine wearing this beautiful scent in summer weather, preferably on vacation. Here we have nothing, and I emphasize nothing artificial. Initially, the scent is citrusy. The limes, which I often perceive as sour and fresh, initially come across to me like oranges or mandarins. Juicy, almost slightly sweet, they open this sparkling fragrance. And it stays that way for quite a while. Only in the base does it become a bit fresher before it slowly but surely retreats completely. The woody note is incredibly subtle. I also find musk here only in a very discreet form. This scent is simply wonderfully refreshing and so genuine. The coconut note greets so subtly and shyly that the nose doesn’t even notice it unless it really wants to. But when I allow myself to engage with it, there’s a hint of coconut that truly reminds me of a freshly cut coconut.

I remember so well. When I was a child, the beach vendors on vacation always knew how to impress my mother. Every day she bought overpriced fruit. And if it was supposed to be a coconut, I always eagerly dove into the fresh coconut water and loved it.

And here we are again with vacation. A heartfelt thank you goes to Spatzl for the testing opportunity. I would like to recommend this scent to all coconut and vacation scent skeptics. I’m convinced it will surprise you too. By the way, my blind suspicion would have fallen on Hermès. So, did I pique your curiosity?

I usually don't like coconut, but even that is managed by Ms. Giacobetti for me. A simple, yet successful mix of the listed....

A very appealing combination of citrus and light woody notes, with the coconut water subtly perceived as spicy sweet.

A nice mix of lime + dry cedar, where the lime loses its zest over time. I don't detect coconut. Solid.

Limedde with double-D. Caipirinha/Caribbean vacation in a spray, really just a hint of dry coconut - I usually don't like it, but here it's good!

Very nice natural lime and unsweetened coconut that quickly takes over and lasts. I don't get cedar. It's okay!
