An evocative earthy mineral green scent
Source Adage’s Ki’lei is a remarkably nuanced and multi-faceted, aromatic green fragrance that effectively conveys the fragrance inspiration of air around and after a thunderstorm. Ki’lei opens with a blast of green aromatic notes that literally smells like a damp forest floor. You could distinctly sniff out Silver Fir and Fern with herbal notes of Lavender and Rosemary. However, the true distinction of Ki’lei is the “petrichor” quality, or the distinctive smell of an earth rich in minerals post-rain. The “petrichor” note is given tang and a metallic quality thanks to metallic aldehydes, along with some hint of smoke. Ki’lei depicts an ozonic and electrically charged quality of air that you might find just before lighting strikes.
On the dry down, a clean note of jasmine sambac emerges to settle the green earthiness against the sharpness without being floral.
Ki’lei is suited for someone who appreciates unique and conceptual fragrances that tell a story and/or prefers the scent of nature over the typical perfume note.

From the Litter Box to the Sea and into the Sea
I currently have the travel letter from dear @IceMachine regarding the fragrances of Source Adage with me...
After Aétai and C'i'aan yesterday, today it was time for Ki'lei...

So, early on, I bravely sprayed Ki'lei on my left wrist...
... oh my gosh...
... even a cat litter box that hasn't been cleaned for 3 weeks doesn't emit such a strong urine-ammonia cloud...

But I want to give it a chance... somehow I might endure this top note... (do you know that feeling when minutes suddenly feel like hours?)

Phew - it was worth it!!!
Because after about 20 minutes, this urinous note finally completely faded away, and here too, like with "Aétai | Source Adage," a cold green wind greets me.
However, this one is definitely damp. Salty-damp - I am now lying in fresh green ferns, with herbs growing here and there in between, and when the spray from the sea is whipped towards me by the strong wind, it makes the air salty and wet.
The herbs seem to like it, as they are slowly growing and overtaking the ferns, but they do not completely displace them.

Deep relaxation flows through me...

... until I suddenly smell something strange... I look around and discover the source: a small, quirky old person standing on the shore, trying to "clean" the beach with soap and seawater...
"Hello - what you're doing makes no sense! Please stop!" I call out to the person, who is neither recognizable as a man nor a woman - but they seem not to hear me. No matter how loudly I shout and wave my arms - they don't even flinch and continue undeterred.

I lean back, try to focus on the herbs and ferns, and resolve to simply ride out this "phase" (like the cat urine at first)...
But this person has an enormous and admirable perseverance in their cleaning action...

In the end, I have no choice but to jump into the sea and let myself be pulled down by the algae-rich water into an endless whirlpool of algae-green aquatic life.

At least I've escaped the soap!

What a wild, exciting, and interesting olfactory ride...

This is not a e.g. Baie 19 kind of earthy -if Toskavat made earthy frags, this would be one of them. Unique, sure but not for me.

Ozone-metallic, with a hint of citrus (aldehydes?). Cloud before the storm? Fits.

Seaweed-covered beach in winter. Rotting away. Hippie shop with chamomile tea, calendula ointment, and incense sticks. Strange scent.
