In Oilskin Through the Hanging Gardens of Bayer Leverkusen
Well, what can one say about this fragrance?! Is it successful or off the mark? Revolutionary or rather plain?
Hmm, I have mostly experienced disappointment with most fragrances from Costume National and wondered, does every designer label really have to dabble in the fragrance segment?
After a blind buy and today’s first test of Cyber Garden, I must say: Absolutely! At least I finally have a fragrance from the house that I rate at 80% with a tendency towards 90%.
The scent is indeed a bit special, starting with classic citrus notes that quickly blend into a nice chemical component. Yes, I’m thinking that this one could have also appeared under another label starting with "C," which is very much focused on synthetic fragrances. But it is from Costume National and not from Comme des Garcons. However!
This chemically green citrus stuff also reveals a pleasantly warm and mossy-earthy base. Vetiver clearly dominates here alongside labdanum and a hint of opopanax. The patchouli listed in the pyramid could have been incorporated more, in my opinion; otherwise, it is a really harmonious fragrance. I can't really relate to the smell of vinyl.... my records smell more like their old paper covers... :-)
I just visited a friend briefly for a chat, and she said I smelled like the testing lab of Bayer Leverkusen for plant protection or fertilizers.... Be that as it may, I like Cyber Garden, and I warmly recommend it to anyone who has a heart for green-resinous-woody scents with a little touch of chemistry!
Put on your rubber boots and oilskin, grab some lemonade and records, and then off you go into the greenery to experience the Cyber Garden! Currently available at good prices from the Amazons ;-)
