A Woody Gourmand Perfume
Miles is an example of how the gourmand direction can be interpreted in a classic men's fragrance.
It’s about fruits, dried fruits that are soaked in a lot of honey. This is excessively sweet, and a bit of vanilla adds extra opulence. Only a splash of lemon makes it enjoyable. It’s somewhat like drizzling lemon over Turkish or Greek halva to make it edible.
In contrast to previous dried fruit gourmands I have known, it is woods that save the perfume and pull it to the masculine side. I don’t perceive much from the floral heart notes. Instead, at times it seemed to me that a cocoa note was also part of the composition.
Miles is distinctly unfresh, sweet, and opulent as a men’s fragrance. I don’t feel any subtle nuances, perhaps from the flowers. If they are present, they are flattened out.
Friends of gourmand perfumes might enjoy this. I do not belong to that group and therefore set the sample aside.
