A Chypre with Edges

Neat, old lady, her white hair styled in a chignon, smells wonderful on the bus. I want to ask what she’s wearing, damn it, I know the scent *thinking*, don’t I have it? Too late, she gets off. I note in my head: soapy, bitter green (galbanum) herbaceous, without sweet floral notes, oakmossy, fresh, distinctive, elegant and not least also stubborn, it is indeed a Chypre. Now I’ve got it, Miss Dior... Haven’t worn it in a long time, already taken out of the collection, disappeared into the big box "Give away?". Today I put it on again, what a Chypre, not watered down but with edges and corners. How could I almost forget it and think about giving it away? The bottle is back in the front, where it belongs, in the first row.

Sillage and longevity are good to very good, the milky, ribbed glass bottle feels good in the hand. And the Miss can also be worn well by the Mister, give it a try.

… You’re so right! ;) … unfortunately, I’ve also neglected it shamefully … thanks for the wonderfully described reminder :))*

For years, this was my go-to scent. It always fit well when I needed to dress up for serious business occasions. Since discovering Parfumo, though, I've found quite a few other suitable candidates for that purpose, and I've kind of lost track of this one. It's a shame, really.

I always thought Dior fragrances were sweet and heavy, but this MISS is totally my style; I really like Chypre. Beautifully described by you, THANK YOU :-)

I don't know if my sudden love for chypre fragrances has anything to do with age. In any case, I feel wiser now. I want it bitter, I want it green, I want it herbal on dusty moss. And leave out the licorice!

I usually don't dare to ask in situations like this, but it's impressive that you figured it out so easily. And one thing you notice time and again: the FFP2 mask is quite permeable to scents.

Yes, sometimes you suddenly just feel drawn to certain scents again. I (AugustA) think it's great too. Just a few years ago, I wouldn't have wanted it.

I'm not sure if I already know it.

How nice that you've dug up the Miss again and she gets to stand in the spotlight now. I know the vintage Miss Dior, which I got to know in the early 70s. Back then, I was too young for this creation and found the Miss too grown-up and serious.

What bus rides can sometimes be good for ;-))) I don't know the scent (but I'm not a hardcore chypre fan), but I'm happy for you that it has made such an impressive comeback to the forefront.

Yes, surprisingly, I liked it too, despite the **oak moss** being so prominently featured. And yes, it's definitely suitable for men as well.

I really like this one too. And this version can definitely hold its own against the old version for me. That doesn't happen often ;-)!

Even if it’s not my style, I know you love the classic original Chypres. You've described it so enticingly that one could almost get a craving for it.

Such a lovely experience. Thank you for sharing it with us, dear Pluto :) This is one of those Chypre scents that I find beautiful on others, but somehow can't wear myself...

I wear it rarely, but when I do, I wear it with pride. Elegant and refined, but never too soft. The notes you've described perfectly capture what else I could say about the scent. And it's definitely wearable for men too. Trophy for you!

How accurate - truly a scent with edges that polarizes. I like to wear it in winter when I feel the need for strength. With this fragrance, you can only feel confident.

I really liked it, spot on, to the point, precise, and calm. A newly adjusted memory scent!

Unfortunately, it’s associated (and somewhat concrete) for me with various women of the same type that I don’t get along with well.

I experienced the same thing recently on the train. I caught a wonderful scent, even figured out who was wearing it, but I didn't dare to ask :) It must have been a Narciso. Thanks for the lovely scene that once again shows how we often perceive (and appreciate) scents on others differently than on ourselves (where we have them in our noses all the time).

Yeah, funny, I keep forgetting about it too, but when I’m reminded, I think: Damn it, it’s so great, why don’t I have it yet?! :)

The strict, angular lady also has a special place in my heart, or rather, my fragrance cabinet. I'm glad you reconsidered.
