Lovely masculine fragrance

I've never loved Dior Homme line simply because I've never been able to correlate that sweet, powdery scent with the name "Homme". These scents don't correlate with my point of view of what "masculine" in perfumery means. The first time I smelled DH 2020, I was so surprised and happy that Dior finally made really woody, fresh, masculine scent that is comparable to Terre or some Guerlain male fragrances. DH 2020 is to me waaay more masculine than the original one, and to my taste light years ahead of Sauvage. If Sauvage were 20 years old boy, DH 2020 would be 35 years old gentleman! I love the vetiver note especially when combined with the fresh citrus notes and other woods. It is understandable that many people are "offended" by this reformulation but I think the original Homme line shouldn't have been named "Homme" in the first place. Don't get me wrong, this line is/was unique and maybe one of the best releases in the designer world, but as I said I don't find them particularly masculine. I hope that Dior will keep the old fragrances available for many years to come, but in the same time I love this new direction that started with DH2020. I love the scent! The two recent releases Prada LR Ocean and Davidoff CW parfume have a quite a similar idea behind, but not so well executed. Anyway, if you look for something quite similar but cheaper I would go for these two alternatives.

Agree with you 100%. The original should have been called Dior Femelle!

Thanks Nik604! Yea, we'll disagree about Sauvage but that's fine. I am 30+ and I've tried i.e. forced myself and spent half a bottle of Sauvage but I always feel like it doesn't fit my personality and age especially when compared to Terre d'Hermes, Platinum Egoiste, Guerlain Homme or this Homme 2020 - among designers. Very subjective indeed.

Yeahh, those are classic masterpieces long time ago..Sauvage is something very different ( at least it was in 2015 ) - was very newly hi tech smell and concept . Even mysterious at that time... Agree - now is very common ( maybe boyish , but I'm 46 and still thing is not) and derivatives from it are raining now days . Witch makes it little boring .

Very true review, except that Sauvage is not so young and juvenile as you described it...the rest is 100% right. Glad that Dior finally made it and remove the nasty dreadful iris.

@50something Yes, you are right! I completely forgot Eau Sauvage line, these are also great even though I don't have them. Since you like this type of fragrances I have to mention Annick Goutal Bois D'Hadrien or the classic Eau d'Hadrien. I tried them in Dubai couple of years ago, and the salesman intrigued me with the story about the Hollywood stars wearing that perfume. It is probably the best citrus note on a woody base I've ever tried.

I'm an Eau Sauvage fan, but Dior Homme 2021 is a winner. Like you, I prefer masculine fragrances. This one took quite a beating because it's not really a flanker of the previous Dior Homme line. I sprayed this on at Ulta and I was taken back. I thought, I don't remember Dior Homme smelling this good lol, so I looked it up and read all the fuss. I picked a bottle up that day and I enjoy wearing this one. It will fool you, just when you think it's died down I keep picking up whiffs of it.
