Sauvage Elixir Dior 2021

One day, as I was wandering through the turquoise perfumery, I wasn't quite sure which fragrances to start with. So I grabbed the Dior Sauvage, which has been somewhat criticized in the perfume community, as it seems everyone has or wears this scent in some way.

Of all the flankers, I liked the Sauvage Eau de Parfum the best. The saleswoman suggested I try the Elixir. From the fragrance notes listed on Parfumo, I knew that licorice was included. As a child (and still today), I hated the smell and taste of licorice. Whenever I ate Haribo Colorado, the licorice pieces were always left behind.

Unfortunately, I succumbed to the charm of the very attractive saleswoman and agreed to a scent test... and THEN it happened. Do you know the scene from the movie Ratatouille at the end when the old grumpy restaurant critic takes the first spoonful of the ratatouille and it explodes in his mouth, reviving neurological connections to his almost forgotten childhood???

It was somewhat similar for me in that moment, and it really wasn't due to the pretty employee. This scent DNA threw me off so much that I found myself smelling the scent stick for the next few hours like an alcoholic constantly reaching for their flask to take a little nip.

I'm no expert when it comes to fragrances, but I consider myself capable of distinguishing good scents from bad ones to some extent. The funny thing is, I don't like the smell of durian (known in Germany as the "vomit fruit"), but I enjoy eating it very much.
The fascinating part is that some scents and aromas are perceived differently by various organs, and for me, the Sauvage Elixir is a masterpiece of perfumery, even though I can't smell or eat licorice at all. But this freshness combined with the spices evokes a feeling of elevation and well-being in me.

Every time I walk the dog in the wind and the breeze brings me whiffs of the scent, I can't help but smile contentedly.

It doesn't matter to me whether it's a niche house or a designer brand - if it smells good and performs well, then everything fits. I would wear it even if it came from KiK.

As for the H/S, everything has been said... to quote Jeremy, there is POOOOWWWEERRR in it. It lasts and lasts and lasts... like the Duracell bunny but not with batteries, rather with atomic power.

Dior has succeeded in establishing the word Elixir in the perfume world, and all other fragrance houses that write it on their bottles must always face the comparison with the "UR-Elixir" regarding longevity and projection.
