A masterpiece
The first time I smelled the fragrance was in a perfumery and I didn't like it... big mistake on my part, it had too much of a "it gives you a headache" vibe for me.

Half a year later, I dared to try the fragrance again and BANG... completely in love. Starting with the spray head, which is already more than above average for the whole Sauvage range.
The fragrance starts very strongly. A strong spicy note, accompanied by cardamom and yet a light fresh citrus note. The fresh component diminishes more and more over time, leaving a spicy beast on the skin. An incredibly strong spicy cloud that now also smells slightly woody and, above all, strongly but pleasantly of licorice.

So all in all one of, if not the best designer!!!

Sauvage Elixir: Probably the best designer for the self-confident man! I Dior Sauvage on steroids!
For a very long time, I gave Sauvage Elixir a wide berth; especially because many people write about this licorice note and I am absolutely not a fan of licorice. In the last few weeks, however, I caught myself sniffing the fragrance several times in the perfumery and yes, you can smell licorice; but nowhere near as extreme and disturbing as I imagined.

But what really blew me away was the ingenious further development of the Sauvage DNA, which is known by many and is extremely universally compatible. Dior has effectively used the successful Sauvage DNA (lavender, patchouli, yes instead of bergamot here grapefruit but the freshness with a good dash of ambrox) and added the right amount of spice with notes such as nutmeg, cardamom, cinnamon, licorice. This has made the fragrance much more exciting, more grown-up and, above all, more powerful!
But now to the fragrance, the Sauvage Elixir :
- The Sauvage Elixir starts very fresh due to the grapefruit, but at the same time spicy, thanks to cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg; a very balanced mixture of these ingredients without one note taking the upper hand and the fragrance thus becoming too "niche" or challenging.

- The fragrance then goes into the typical ambroxan-based drydown, but without generating "shower gel vibes" as with Sauvage Eau de Toilette, but remains rather spicy, fresh and exciting thanks to the licorice note, sometimes also because of the woody accords in the drydown.

- The performance of this fragrance is really above average; it projects long and well and also has a top shelf life!

In summary; an ingenious fragrance and a must for every fragrance lover! Dior has really produced something brilliant here and I think this elixir is one of the best flankers ever.

About Sauvage Eau de Toilette : Unfortunately, this fragrance has become a victim of its own success. All of us have probably had it in our collection at some point and adored it, but due to its popularity and all the snobbery, the fragrance has been unjustifiably downgraded. From my point of view, you can rock this one just as much as you used to! You really don't have to listen to any influencers or people around you - wear what you want and what you like!

Grapefruit paired with licorice
The Dior Sauvage Elixir is a wonderfully balanced licorice fragrance that is perfect for all occasions. Well... almost all. I think you can always wear the fragrance, whether in spring, fall or winter. It can also be worn in summer, but licorice, cinnamon and woods are less suited to the season. But hey, if you want to wear it in summer, feel free to do so. The grapefruit in the top note comes out well at the beginning and goes perfectly with the other ingredients. The fragrance is simply perfectly balanced. The longevity is above average and the sillage is great. The bottle differs little from the classic Sauvage, but in my opinion it still looks great. If you like the classic Sauvage and don't want to smell like everyone else, you should go for Sauvage Elixir! I've owned the fragrance for almost a year now and have never had any negative feedback about it. I would say that the fragrance fits best on a cold fall night and makes you feel like a mysterious man at that moment. In terms of price/performance, it could be a little cheaper, but for the quality you get, I think the price is justified. But as always, test before you buy, because all noses smell different :)

Once sprayed on, there's no turning back... Monster!
It was January of this year, right at the beginning, still on my end-of-year vacation. My beloved everyday companion of many years, Knize Ten Golden Edition, coughed the last droplets of its inner values into my neck. Empty, completely. The thought that the time was ripe for a change was growing in my head to the point of certainty. So I flopped comfortably onto the sofa and did a little research on the internet to find the "best men's fragrances". It's no great surprise that I soon stumbled across Sauvage Eau de Toilette. "Of course, it must be great, with such a big presence on the Internet..." So off I went to the local (small town) perfumery to test the DIOR Sauvage. They told me straight away that there was also a current flanker, but that it was much better. I had it sprayed on and also took a small sample with me. My first impression in the store was already strong, very pronounced top note, spicy, oriental, sweet, oppressive, but also something like freshly showered. Actually quite nice. That's why I impatiently went back to the store and bought a bottle. The next morning, I could hardly wait to spray on my new fragrance. Hiss! The very first spray was a reminder to exercise restraint. A reckless second press of the spray button catapulted another dose onto my neck. No prisoners are taken here, that was immediately clear to me. From now on, the Sauvage Elixir was the dominant scent throughout the house. You can't hide anything here.
Over time, the fragrance changes very slowly towards the heart note. Lavender is supposed to dominate here, but I don't think so. The fragrance had me in a stranglehold. The Sauvage Eau de Parfum constantly made it clear to me who the olfactory boss is today. I found it to be very linear and simple. Certainly not really bad, but there is nothing special about it. The fragrance has its own statement, but it's pretty mass market. I've been smelling it a lot in the city since I started paying attention to it. It mainly gives a feeling of freshly showered and clean, it's masculine and sweet. The ambroxan makes Sauvage Elixir very synthetic and one-dimensional. I don't perceive any licorice, but a warm woodiness in the drydown. Speaking of drydown, it is very long in coming. The persistence is abnormal, far too strong for me. If any of the Sauvage Elixir gets on my clothes, I can't get it off for the time being. Don't get me wrong, I like strong fragrances. But at some point it got on my nerves so much that I didn't use it for quite a while afterwards. During this time, thanks to Parfumo, I was able to get to know a few other fragrances (niche fragrances were previously unknown to me). That opened up a new world for me. I don't think I'll be wearing the Sauvage monster again. Respectable lovers of the fragrance may forgive me.

Thank you for reading my first review!

This brings back the greatness of the original
This fragrance should've gotten a different name imo, because people will still consider you an NPC if you wear it. It's in a different class than the original though. With this one you'll get an amber woody experience as well. Its longevity is insane and on clothes you have to wash them to get rid of it. It's very masculine like the other sauvages but this just has much more depth to it.

Disappointment here. Unjustified hype about this perfume. No sillage, minimum projection. Average at best. Already seen several times.

I was testing it today, an absolutely meh, average performance, nothing new in composition, expensive, a huge pass.

I only tried it once, but hated it. It's strong and sweet. Cloying. I don't get the hype. Generic modern take on classic fougere.
