I first noticed D&G Pour Homme on a fellow student during my studies. Without me asking, he told me about his birthday gift that he was wearing at the time. I found the scent very pleasant back then, especially since he must have applied it quite sparingly.
As already described, DGPH develops quite variably: First, a distinct opening with balanced freshness and bitter notes, slightly fruity in the background, but in no way sweet. Instead, a good amount of spice comes in immediately, almost completely pushing aside the fruity notes and replacing them with some warmth. Later, it becomes even woodier. Overall, I find it well-rounded and not exactly modestly dosed.
The EdT is also long-lasting (min. 8 hours noticeable on clothing) and the glass bottle is absolutely successful. Points are deducted for the creaky plastic cap.
I find the comment from Eternity interesting, which denies this scent any attraction to the female gender. I can initially agree with that, unless I hear otherwise. (My girlfriend doesn't like the scent either.) However, I had the impression that the EdT would support the "masculine appearance" of the aforementioned fellow student. Perceptions can be so different, although one does not necessarily exclude the other.
I actually consider DGPH to be a consistently successful scent that is always noticed as soon as you enter a room, yet it does not come across as intrusive. I find it unsuitable for leisure activities and evening outings because it is too spicy and sharply non-erotic. However, due to its vital appearance, it is also not suitable for lounging comfortably on the sofa or for Sunday walks. I can also completely rule it out for sports; it’s not that fresh. After the process of elimination, the only normal use left is work, which doesn’t necessarily have to take place in an office. In that scenario, I can best imagine DGPH... and of course in the lecture hall. ;)
