The One for Men Dolce & Gabbana 2015 Eau de Parfum

Expensive Mist
Yesterday afternoon near Cologne. Capturing the last rays of sunshine. Packed up my son and went for a walk. Since he has a habit of licking the test strips, it was natural to test a bit of the turquoise one. On the agenda were, due to the mostly good reviews here, Cartier "Roadster" (pretty cool mint, really cool), Mercedes Benz Intense (not bad at all), and of course the perfume version of The One.
As I couldn't find this one right away (you'll see why), I first tested the other two. My son had his fun. Afterwards, I asked a saleswoman where the new D&G was. I followed her, and without hesitation, I got a spray on my wrist. I smelled it briefly and asked if this was really the new The One. It smells completely different and above all very feminine. "Yes," was the short answer, "you have to imagine it as a pure perfume, which has nothing in common with the EdT. Much sweeter and above all much heavier." ????????????
A glance at the test bottle confirmed my suspicion. It also said D&G's women's fragrance "The One Essence" (by the way, not a scent I would like to smell on my wife).
At the same time, I was also introduced to the new "Akwa di Tjiho."
That was it. That was enough. I left...
... only to come back a few minutes later and politely ask another saleswoman if she could get the right tester. Said and done. A deliberate spray on the other arm. Thanked her and went back out.
Now, what can I say about this fragrance? Unfortunately, it is like many other scents that are released these days. I always have the impression that the developers lay an artificial mist over the inherently good ingredients. A mist that prevents you from smelling individual components. I feel this way about Nuit d`Issey, Intenso by D&G, many Jil Sander scents, and who knows what else. It's an expensive confusion. Sometimes I perceive something fruity, sometimes something woody. But I can't tell what. There is also no discernible progression for me. Overall, it is certainly not a bad fragrance. Perhaps more suited for the younger crowd (under 30) among us.
The longevity and sillage, I must admit, have significantly improved and are now really good, and the bottle also looks very elegant.
Overall, for me, it's not a bad fragrance. However, like many others these days, it is interchangeable.
So, today a classic will be tested. Marbert Man Classic. My son is already looking forward to it....
