Very beautiful, very Xerjoff

It opens with a bright fruity chord with strawbery. In the style of Erba Pura, Cruz del Sur 2. Dry down is a spicy Rose with a rich Xerjoff base. It Lets me think about More then Words, Alexandria 2, Bouquet Ideale. Al i al it is a very beautiful perfume. Bright, unisex, strong

Dont get the Hype

It's very smilar to Erba Pura but less sweet. Powerfull and long lasting. But It is definetly NOT worth the price. Totaly generic work. It has not creativeness. Last two years Xerjoff can't be creative. Please stop the presentation and make a real niche perfume.

A FRUITY CARAMEL CLOUD WITH NOWHERE TO GO

Very sweet, very fruity, very amber. I like it, but I don’t love it. In fact, it’s the only Xerjoff I’ve ever decluttered. My issue? It’s just too simple. Unlike most of my other Xerjoffs, there’s not much development here.

You get the fruity notes right away — mostly peach, with a touch of tart strawberry. Then comes the syrupy vanilla and sticky caramel, wrapping everything in a sugary glaze. Saffron is one of the main players here, adding a slightly medicinal edge, and I don’t love saffron — so maybe that’s part of why this didn’t work out for me. There’s also a whisper of oud (and I do mean a whisper—more like the oud tiptoed in, saw how sweet things were, and quietly backed out).The leather is barely there — just a hint of sharpness that I assume is the leather accord. There’s also a bit of sweet rose.

Normally, I love how Xerjoff balances wearability with complexity, layering notes in a way that keeps things interesting. But in La Capitale, the structure feels too linear, without the twists and turns I was hoping for. As it dries down and progresses, the fruitiness fades a little but never entirely. The sticky caramel and vanillic amber stay front and center, keeping everything in that sugary comfort zone. Performance is fine — good, but not great.

If I had to sum it up in one sentence: sticky, fruity caramel with saffron, smoothed out by a tart strawberry note that helps keep the sweetness in check. It’s a dessert lover’s dream, but I guess I was hoping for a full-course meal.

So damned well rounded

This is definitely a masterpiece.Xerjoff mentions as source of inspiration Moscow,Russia. Subtle, elegant tiny clouds of caramel ,strawberry and peach along with soft smell of leather, not a dirty leather but a very elegant brand new sexy leather note gets you first. The fruits and caramel step back in the background to reveal a beautiful rose that is deliciously served with labdanum ,ginger and amber
The leather with the rose and resins allow space to a soft oud with a sophisticated cloud of benzoin and a bitter sweet vanilla
Which provides the eau de parfum a smokey medicinal sweetness. All the above dance of notes so beautifully choreographed to get to the end of the journey,get to Moscow rose and bourbon vanilla with soft leather and soft oud in glorious benzoin veil.

An old-fashioned fruity fragrance - recommended for fruit lovers

La Capitale is a resinous fruity perfume from Xerjoff from Christian Carbonnel who designed many of the Xerjoff perfumes.  I find that most Carbonnel-designed perfumes appear to fall into one of these two categories, old-fashioned with a heavy floral fruity vibe or a middle eastern look-alike with strong oud and gourmand accords.  I got this La Capitale (15 ml) as a set with Pikovaya Dama and More Than Words.  La Capitale and Pikovaya Dama fall into the first category, and More Than Words into the second one.

The notes listed on the website are accurate for the olfactory pyramid of this perfume.  The opening is clearly fruity with a touch of caramel and labdanum.  The two latter notes are very light allowing the strawberry and peach to shine.  The listed heart notes – amber, rose, leather, saffron and ginger – blend together so nicely that it become single accord.  Interestingly, the heart notes in La Capitale are not very strong.  The fruity accords from the beginning still rule after a few hours.  If I smell hard, I get a whiff of ginger, but every other heart note is blended in.  The base notes are very soft benzoin and vanilla, but no oud is perceptible to me.  What we get with La Capitale is a nice harmonious olfactory progression, but the fruity personality is always there.

The performance of La Capitale is good, not great.  This is a bit surprising to me because the notes in La Capitale are usually associated with good performance.  The opening and heart notes stay bright on my skin for 4-6 hours, but the base notes are very weak.  The fruity notes survive clothes for a longer period.  It should work in an office setting, provided you spray this an hour or two before.

In summary, La Capitale is a lovely fruity fragrance that I can easily recommend to those who love fruity accords.  I would rather start with a 15 ml bottle for $50-60, because I have a nagging suspicion that this is not a very versatile fragrance.
