Of course, I had imagined something cheeky, wicked, or simply extraordinary with a fragrance bearing such a diabolical name. However, Diabolique turns out to be a rather flat, synthetically inclined bore.
If it weren't for this pinch of cardamom, which must feel quite lost among the floral notes, it would be the infamous 0815 fragrance.
Diabolique has hardly any volume, no supporting base. I certainly don't notice one. There isn't even a red thread that harmoniously weaves the cardamom into the progression. The spice note feels forced to me, and thus the perfume comes across as quite unfinished.
The sillage is weak, the longevity is at best mediocre, even the falcon is tame, and the scent is far too plain to meet the expectations that the name evokes.
I don't know Diabolique, but it seems just as 'exciting' to me as Rouge & Noir by Eisenberg, which I have in my collection. Another one of those that you can easily forget.
"Well, it didn't turn out great, but it has to go, so let's at least give the kid an exciting name..." That's probably how the marketing folks at Eisenberg agreed...
