The Little Coward

To address the title right away: For me, the fig clearly sets the tone here. I was quite surprised that so many perfume enthusiasts perceive coconut as a fragrance note.
I stumbled upon this scent quite by chance in late summer last year and immediately made it my vacation fragrance.
I was actually more focused on Zegna Intenso, which I became aware of through the well-known larger YouTubers. Until then, I had never heard of Ermenegildo Zegna. I then clicked through the entire fragrance range of the brand and somehow ended up with the City Line. "New York" is also a really decent scent, but for me, it leans too much towards Bentley Intense, which I like a bit better.
Now, to get back to the actual fragrance:
What I perceive is a fruity, not overly sweet fig. This note, by the way, does not limit itself to the top note for me. It runs much more through the entire fragrance pyramid. After the fruity-fresh opening, a woody note (sandalwood) quickly joins in, which gradually takes up more space over time.
The longevity is quite good for a spring/summer fragrance, with around 6-7 hours, and especially during the first hour, Milan leaves a remarkable scent trail behind. After that, the fragrance comes a bit closer to the body.
All in all, I am very happy to have chosen this scent, somewhat off the absolute mainstream that usually sets the tone in my collection, and I will happily wear it again this spring.

@SvenScent: thanks for the info about the fig tree scent! I didn't know that. I was just wondering why most fig fragrances somehow also smell like coconut. :)

A fig tree smells like coconut! That's just how it is. When I first went to Greece in my younger years, I always wondered why it smelled like coconut everywhere, even though there were no coconut palms around, until I realized it was the fig trees that had that scent...!

Yeah, it's really crazy how differently people can perceive scents :D Either way, I really love Milan! So far, it's my fragrance of the summer, and it’s been working great even in the humid, warm weather we've had lately. I decided to grab a backup bottle while it's still so affordable :D
