I came here for the camphor note, which I am fascinated by ever since I tried Heeley's Esprit du Tigre. I thought it would be the twist in this fragrance, but it turned out the camphor was the least odd element here. There's an uneasy fruitiness that is dense, dark and creamy. Awkward and fascinating at the same time.
At first the heavy fruity note, the patchouli and the incense are easy to tell apart. The dose of camphor adds a spicy tingling sensation, but nothing medicinal like Vick's Vapo-rub. Over time the scent does not really develop, but the notes seem to kind of disintegrate -some say "blend"- into a more socially acceptable and still rather unique fragrance.
Another conversation starter from ELdO. A fruity patchouli with a next-level oddness.
Thanks for your reply, you should definitely try Tubereuse Criminelle, is the perfume that took me in the direction of camphors. I love the open vibrant notes of medicinal substances like "Reflex Srpy" for contusions.
By my side I will search Lutens' Borneo 1834 and Liquides Imaginaires Eau Arborante.
Have a nice day!
I feel exactly the same: fruity is not my thing and so I still got 50ml of this because it just intrigues me so much. Camphor is the note that is driving me crazy, besides Heleey perfume, Tubereuse Criminelle and Issey l'eau bleue do you know any other camphorated perfume? Thank you!
Hi AndreLothe,
I have heard that Lutens' Borneo 1834 and Liquides Imaginaires Eau Arborante also have a pronounced camphor note, but I have yet to try them personally. Some cypress fragrances like CdG Hinoki and Santi Burgas TDM also have camphorous tendencies, but I consider that more a side effect than an intended direction. First time I heard of Tubereuse Criminelle, definitely going to try that out. Thanks for your feedback. Cheers!
