... because so far I hardly liked any fragrance from Etat Libre d’Orange.
Bijou Romantique opens citrus-floral, with the warmer aspects of amber and vanilla present from the very beginning - they gain weight quickly as the top notes recede. Right from the start, I notice something bitter; I suspect it’s clary sage with iris. I don’t particularly like it at this strength close to the skin. However, when sniffed from a bit of a distance, the two bitter elements blend nicely and give this fragrance an interesting note. Ylang-ylang is clearly discernible from start to finish and seems to act as a cohesive network.
Not bad at all, I’m surprised, especially since I was initially a bit annoyed by the constant smoky note of the other fragrances in the sample pack.
Okay, I realize that I might need to test EldO several times. At least to my nose, they don’t reveal themselves immediately, so a final evaluation will have to wait a little longer.
After 30 minutes, the bitter note is still present. My hopes that it would soften did not come true. I would love to sniff Bijou on someone else. On myself, at least this evening, I find it a bit overwhelming towards the end.
