Soapy-herb-creamy Bouquet

This EDP was once again a not-so-successful blind purchase. Since I had tested the EDT before and found it good at the time, I thought the EDP might be the better choice for the transition from summer to autumn. The comments and statements sounded simply wonderful!

I had imagined a lovely, (sun-) creamy scent with a very light sweetness and pleasant floral notes, perhaps a bit denser than a "normal" summer fragrance. Not at all. Unfortunately, neither Mediterranean nor any other summery associations want to establish themselves for me. Also, there is sadly no trace of beach feeling or sunscreen. Not to mention sunny alleys...

What I smell is a brief citrusy, slightly bitter opening, then it quickly becomes quite floral and unfortunately also a bit soapy. I had already read about the SOAPY aspect here, and that should have warned me. The scent is completely unsweet, not fresh, but also not heavy, at least not by my standards. I don't perceive any fruits at all. In the base, I can actually detect a light pleasant (sandalwood-like) creaminess, which I quite like.

Overall, the EDP is rather herbaceous for me, but the creaminess just manages to keep it from being too harsh. I don’t find it lovely, as I had hoped. Despite the quite pleasant base, I would ultimately only award it the label "uninspiring." At least on my skin.

Even when trying to smell it nicely with lots of Oooohhmm, visualizing corresponding Mediterranean (beach) images, and self-hypnosis including brain-nose twisting, I can't conjure up any corresponding associations. That's very unfortunate. But after 7 years on Parfumo, one should actually know that fragrances should always be tested on the skin first. I just can't help it. Blind purchases are my adult surprise bags!

Still adding it to my wishlist.
Sounds great, and I think I’ll like the perfume.

I really wanted to like it, but there was a distracting note that I just couldn't ignore...what a shame.

I didn't warm up to it; some of the more bitter notes just don't work for me. :o)

I liked it a lot better at first; I don't know the EdT, but I could imagine that I would like it better today as well.

Blind buy solidarity trophy!
But I love blind tests even more... especially when Clive or Roja are involved :)

I'll drop a heavy consolation trophy here. My test was a while ago. Maybe this EdP has been "improved" as well.

The EdT didn't really impress me back then. Thanks to your informative comment, I’ll skip the EdP as well (not to mention a blind buy). A consolation trophy for you and of course, have a fabulous weekend!

I really like Vicoli Fiori. I remember it being lightly soapy and very floral, carefree and not at all bitter. However, it's been a while since I wore it.

That's really disappointing. But floral-soapy and Cleopatra don't quite go together. I really liked the scent during the test, but I couldn't quite connect it with the beach either. Sometimes, no amount of brain-nose twisting helps; if the scent isn't for you, then it just isn't for you. With over 134,000 listed fragrances, there's surely something for you out there ;-) Great to read something from you again!

Well, a soap during Corona times is useful, but the scent should also be right. Unfortunately, this time you're not a lucky one.

Unfortunately, you don't always have luck with a blind buy. Personally, I prefer the EdT as well. It's a very fine scent!

I found the EdT to be more light floral and transparent. But yes, after 7 years on Parfumo, it's still nice for me, but I don't want it in my collection anymore - that's okay.

Too bad. I liked the top note of the EdT better. It has the lightness you mentioned. On the other hand, I think the base of the EdP is fantastic. And it lasts much better. A bit hippie, but for me, it's THE floral scent with everything you don't smell.

I found it much more herbal compared to the EdT back then, so a few years ago I preferred the EdT. Today, I think I would actually like the EdP better because of its stronger bitterness.

It was probably a different expectation. I didn't think it was bad at all, even though it wasn't outstanding.

Yes, that's a shame. It's been a while since I tested the EdT, and it really did smell like sunscreen and vacation, quite nice.
You should try the EdT and maybe swap it...

I know that other concentrations often smell completely different. So it's always better to get a sample. I usually prefer the higher concentrations, but there are exceptions. Maybe you can trade it for an EdT?
