Soapy-herb-creamy Bouquet
This EDP was once again a not-so-successful blind purchase. Since I had tested the EDT before and found it good at the time, I thought the EDP might be the better choice for the transition from summer to autumn. The comments and statements sounded simply wonderful!

I had imagined a lovely, (sun-) creamy scent with a very light sweetness and pleasant floral notes, perhaps a bit denser than a "normal" summer fragrance. Not at all. Unfortunately, neither Mediterranean nor any other summery associations want to establish themselves for me. Also, there is sadly no trace of beach feeling or sunscreen. Not to mention sunny alleys...

What I smell is a brief citrusy, slightly bitter opening, then it quickly becomes quite floral and unfortunately also a bit soapy. I had already read about the SOAPY aspect here, and that should have warned me. The scent is completely unsweet, not fresh, but also not heavy, at least not by my standards. I don't perceive any fruits at all. In the base, I can actually detect a light pleasant (sandalwood-like) creaminess, which I quite like.

Overall, the EDP is rather herbaceous for me, but the creaminess just manages to keep it from being too harsh. I don’t find it lovely, as I had hoped. Despite the quite pleasant base, I would ultimately only award it the label "uninspiring." At least on my skin.

Even when trying to smell it nicely with lots of Oooohhmm, visualizing corresponding Mediterranean (beach) images, and self-hypnosis including brain-nose twisting, I can't conjure up any corresponding associations. That's very unfortunate. But after 7 years on Parfumo, one should actually know that fragrances should always be tested on the skin first. I just can't help it. Blind purchases are my adult surprise bags!

The Alleys of the Marketplace
Vicolo means alley, the online translator teaches me. So this whole thing is apparently called Flower Alley. We have something like that in our town occasionally, at the weekly market. During the season, the plant vendor places his offerings far beyond his cart, and customers have to push their way through narrow alleys.

He always shops at the wholesale market at the crack of dawn, buying whatever he can get for the cheapest price and then selling it off. In return, you never know in advance what he will bring. An original character with phase-driven market crier ambitions, who would easily hold his own at any oriental bazaar. Appropriately sly: Even those who don’t haggle (my wife does - and how!) pay little. And so we have often left on Saturday afternoons, well-charmed and a little lighter in the wallet, with a family car trunk full of plants; not infrequently also with a filled footwell and pots on our laps. In this way, we have gradually transformed our garden from a cemetery look into a sea of flowers (see background image if applicable). Where else can you occasionally get branded container roses for a handful of euros each? Apparently B- and C-grade - so what? The true rose lover is rather encouraged by that.

In good weather, one can occasionally inhale an unpredictable flood of scents at the market. And now we finally come to the fragrance. A floral abundance is promised by the pyramid, which can quickly become too much. Better to sniff veeeery carefully. All clear! Immediately I smell mandarin, after a few minutes melon, rose, and soon even a bit of wood. Thus, we are not solely floral, which bodes well.

Indeed, a light floral scent emerges, but it does not overwhelm with a flowery kakosmie (the olfactory counterpart to cacophony). For a long time, it circles around a bitter center. Verbena, I would say, lemon verbena. For hours, Vicolo Fiori maintains a basic freshness. This concept is less my thing in content, but very well done and at least not strictly feminine.

I cannot come close to identifying all the listed notes; in addition to what has already been mentioned, I would only like to put a bold check next to peach and iris. The fruity aromas have a surprisingly high significance given the name. Nevertheless, there is no danger of a fruit salad attitude, all good.

The second pillar is musk, which becomes stronger over time, though never musty or animalistic. White musk would be the appropriate term for that. In contrast to a botanical bouquet and a clear, bright musk note, it seems to be similarly conceived as Musc Bleu by Il Profvmo:. But Musc Bleu is cooler, more distant, and I also find it more feminine. Vicolo Fiori is a fresh and calmly cheerful charmer that does not come across as superficial or arbitrary. This unforced lightness rather reminds me of some creations by Annick Goutal. The musk benefits greatly from the peach in this case, making it more approachable than the version from Musc Bleu.

The scent lasts a good eight hours, staying quite close to the skin before it fades into a delicate, botanically tinged musk note. It’s a shame that its most beautiful season has passed. I recommend a test starting from the warming spring. In my opinion, a must especially for fans of Musc Bleu.

I thank Pluto for the sample.

The sea is calm
I love the sea. In all its appearances and colors.
The dramatic stormy turmoil of the wild Atlantic against the rugged cliffs of Brittany.
The calm, shallow crystal bays of French Polynesian island idylls.
The turquoise-green, pine-shaded glow of the Côte d’Azur.
The kilometer-long, deep blue surfer paradises along California's palm-lined coastal roads.
The light gray, wind-chilled North Sea and its ice floe sea in winter, the lonely light points of the lighthouses and the misty silhouette of the Halligen on the horizon.

Since one unfortunately cannot have everything at once, the places of longing in the distance regularly tempt one to buy fragrant surrogates in beautiful flacons.

Vicolo Fiori tells a little story in bold, bright floral tones of carefree beach happiness and peaceful days by the sea, of childhood memories of the mild Baltic Sea or fine-powdered Mediterranean beaches.
It is not fresh and not cool; it is the sunscreen on warm, well-cared-for skin, the delicate scent of white-flowering avenues in Mediterranean, honey-yellow light, the comfort of a tender touch in the beach chair in the evening when the water shimmers silver, the sand fades into a mauve-gray with dusk, and only the gentle sound of the surf breaks the silence.

A straightforward, friendly, peach-velvety scent for the longing for summer dresses, sandcastles, and the boundless freedom of the sea's expanse. The world rests, the figures fade like in “The Sea Is Calm” by Cocorosie:

“La mer est calme
Sous l’écran de la caméra
Comme une ampoule electrique grillée
Dans un seau d’eau

Il est sous le feu des projecteurs
D’un soleil cassé
Il a jetté son corps comme une ancre
Comme un morceau de sucre
Et s’est dissout“

(I thank Isolani)

Reload 01: Fool's Freedom for my "Profumum universalis"
There are circumstances in life, everyone knows this, where everyone can do anything:
hyperactive grandchildren at their grandparents',
wild puppies with their proud owners,
court jesters at royal courts,
and Lady Gaga anyway..

I've brought something like that into my home, or rather around my neck, and, folks, I’m as proud as a peacock, walking around with a blissful look and nothing can throw me off balance anymore.

Some time ago, after a stressful work week, I wanted to treat myself and sniff around the shelves at my favorite dealer in the city.
But I promise, I won't buy anything. HONEST!

When I reached the ETROs, a beautiful bottle caught my eye, standing out from the ETRO fragrance bottles I usually know. Okay, one more sniff, then I’ll go home.

Pffft, Pfft,.....
And then it was all over for me.
I simply HAD to take it with me!

The little angel on my right shoulder: But we said we wouldn’t buy anything.....
The little devil on my left: Pack it up and take it with you!
Angel: Think about your bank balance......
Devil: Shut up
And then the devil spoke through me: “I’ll take this one, do you accept Visa?” (silly question)

So now I am the proud owner of a masterpiece, making it my scent of all scents, and my previous signature fragrance is moving to the second row.
Surprisingly, I find it extremely difficult to describe Vicolo Fiori, and the fragrance pyramid doesn’t help me in the slightest. I can’t identify any of the listed notes, not one stands out.

The scent presents itself to me as a wonderfully fresh and clean millefleur (with a tiny, tart fruity note)
but with many contradictions:

light and friendly, yet with real depth,
florally green, but with an enormous, very powdery musk cuddle component,
lovely, but not sweet,
an adult fragrance for young people and the young at heart
a decent sillage that stays close to the skin
a rather linear scent, in which the fresh powderiness increases, but is clearly noticeable from the very beginning.

I generally have more problems with the longevity of fragrances on my skin, but VF remains very present on me even after many hours, close to the skin, without catapulting me into a fragrance storm at first spray.

I have also experienced that the fragrance intensity increases in the last hot days when I’ve started to sweat. A pleasant effect of perspiration ;-))
I have also found that this scent attracts attention. Comments from my patients
ranged from:
“Heid´riachd`s aba guad bei Eana” (for all non-Bavarians: “Today, you smell really good”) to: “May I ask you something....?”
In summary, I can only say:

The scent has everything I wish for from a top-notch perfume (my personal "profumum universalis") and therefore it has absolute fool's freedom for me. It has already taken that freedom and even spread out on male skin (I thought it was great). It can come to work, accompany me in my free time, and it can sleep with me. And these privileges are only granted to one other person in this house...

In the Shady Flower Alley
For me, Vicolo Fiori starts with a strong dose of mandarin. Normally more citrus-sweet and quite fruity, I perceive more of a mandarin peel here, even a bit scratchy on my skin. My hands always smell like that after peeling an orange. This slightly bitter-fresh mandarin note accompanies the fragrance throughout, while the flowers - I initially catch a hint of lily of the valley, and I also recognize the peony - play a more supporting role here.

Overall, I find "Vicolo Fiori" to be a rather strong and zesty fragrance that lacks any real sweetness and doesn't really have citrus notes in the sense of lemony accents; I might think there’s vetiver in it, as this subtly bitter and crisp-cool floral quality prevails for me. I actually expected it to be different, especially after interpreting the comments.

The fruity note that opens up a bit shyly alongside the mandarin (melon? Definitely not, I would say, nor the mentioned peach) prevents me from labeling the fragrance as "floral-fruity." It scratches in a pleasant way, is summery without really being light.

The base for me consists of a light, non-oriental sandalwood, covered with a fine layer of dust; it smells somewhat matte. The mandarin peel is, by the way, still there.

Very feminine and beautiful! Dewy flowers, juicy tangerine, creamy musk. Sweet but refreshing. Low longevity in summer, moderate in winter.
