How can this be only the second review?
Sometimes I really wonder why a fragrance like this has so few reviews. Maybe because it doesn't shout "Here I am!" but does the exact opposite: it draws you in.
First of all: I'm already a bit biased towards the Ex Nihilo brand. Blue Talisman is the love of my life and will probably stay that way for a long time. I have also dedicated a corresponding review to the fragrance ;D
That's probably why I'm a little more sympathetic to this perfume house than others.
The Hedonist Extrait de Parfum starts immediately with a clearly recognizable grapefruit-ginger combo. Although stated as a heart note, a sweet lychee is subliminally announced. This remains the case for me for the first 40 minutes or so, with grapefruit already having the upper hand.
Gradually, the lychee creeps into the foreground, giving the fragrance a subtle but constant sweetness
After about 1.5 hours, the woods come to the fore, I smell mainly Akigalawood and cedarwood. Jordi Fernández manages the perfect transition to dry woods here, amberwood and Akigalawood send their regards. At the same time, I also get a very slightly earthy note, which gives the fragrance a certain depth - thanks, I suppose, to vetiver and patchouli. However, the cleanliness of the fragrance is in no way compromised by this and never smells musty, but always very clean.
However, I can hardly smell any tonka bean.
---------------------------------------------------------
I have to say: for me, the fragrance has something extremely mystical, divine, perfect in itself (sounds heavy, I know, but it is for me).
In my opinion, the perfume is an absolute masterpiece that captivates most of the people who smell it.
Captivating also applies to sillage & projection.
This is not a fragrance that fills rooms, but surrounds you with an aura that is very much smelled when you talk to someone or walk past them. As soon as someone is close to you (1-3m) you will be actively noticed - and most likely also approached, complimpents guaranteed. :D
All in all, you get a fragrance here (for quite a lot of money, unfortunately) that smells exactly like this: high-status and totally hypnotizing.
Addiction warning goes out.
PS: I cannot judge the associations with Le Gemme - Tygar and Vibrato mentioned here, as I have never smelled either. A sample of Vibrato is on its way, so I may be able to add to my review then.
Until then, I'll enjoy this gem. :)
