Cedarwood, vetiver, and patchouli.
This to me is like the winter version of The Hedonist Eau de Parfum. I feel like I can wear The Hedonist Eau de Parfum all year round and on any occasions. But this one is definitely more suitable in the colder months. Also, probably not as crowd pleasing as The Hedonist Eau de Parfum.

Woody, fruity, ambery, warm, and unisex leaning masculine, is what I would describe this to be. It smells like a block of dry cedarwood that you dip into sweet fruity syrup mixed with some citrus. I hope that makes sense lol.

It is very very strong. And it lasts for what felt like weeks on my clothes. Thankfully Ex Nihilo has one of the best (if not the best) sprayers/nozzles on the market. It sprays very fine, wide, and you can precisely control the amount you'd spray. For me 1 spray of this is more than enough. So with that, I think the price is justified. The blend, the sillage, projection, and the lasting power would probably make even the 50 ml bottle lasts a lifetime hahaha.

A Fragrance Full of Character - Zesty, Fruity, Woody
It was love at first spray. After the first testing of this fragrance, I knew I absolutely had to have it.

The scent impresses with its zesty freshness of grapefruit balanced with the subtle sharpness of ginger. A little later, a hint of lychee note unfolds and gently transitions into a sweetly balanced woody accord, giving the entire fragrance a deep complexity.
The fresh and spirited opening transitioning into the elegant and sensual depth enchanted me from the very first sniff.

The performance does not disappoint either. The sillage is indeed buildable, but the longevity on my skin is outstanding.
Anyone who loves citrus freshness but also appreciates the warmth of woody notes will find a stylish companion in this fragrance.

How can this be only the second review?
Sometimes I really wonder why a fragrance like this has so few reviews. Maybe because it doesn’t loudly scream “Here I am!”, but does the exact opposite: It draws you in.

First of all: I am a bit biased towards the brand Ex Nihilo. "Blue Talisman | Ex Nihilo" is the love of my life and that will probably remain so for a long time. I have dedicated a corresponding review to that fragrance as well. ;D
So I am probably a bit more favorable towards this perfume house than others.

The Hedonist Extrait de Parfum starts immediately with a clearly recognizable grapefruit-ginger combo. Although listed as a heart note, a sweet lychee subtly announces itself. This remains the case for me for the first approximately 40 minutes, with grapefruit still holding the upper hand.
Gradually, the lychee sneaks into the foreground, giving the fragrance a subtle but constant sweetness.

After about 1.5 hours, the woods come to the fore; I mainly smell Akigalawood and cedarwood. Jordi Fernández achieves the perfect transition to dry woods here, amberwood and Akigalawood make their presence known. At the same time, I also get a very slightly earthy note, which gives the fragrance a certain depth - I assume thanks to vetiver and patchouli. However, the cleanliness of the fragrance is in no way compromised and never smells musty, but always very clean.
I hardly pick up on tonka bean, though.

---------------------------------------------------------

I have to say: The fragrance has something extremely mystical, divine, and complete about it (sounds intense, I know, but that’s how it is for me).
In my view, the perfume is an absolute masterpiece that captivates most people who smell it.

Captivating also applies to sillage & projection.
This is not a fragrance that fills rooms, but it surrounds you with an aura that is definitely noticed when you talk to someone or walk past them. As soon as someone is in your vicinity (1-3m), you are actively perceived - and most likely also approached about it, compliments guaranteed. :D

All in all, you get a fragrance here (for unfortunately quite a bit of money) that smells exactly like that: high-status and totally hypnotizing.
Warning: addiction ahead.

PS: I cannot assess the associations mentioned here with Le Gemme - Tygar and Vibrato as I have not smelled either yet. A sample of Vibrato is on its way, and I might be able to add to my review then.
Until then, I am enjoying this jewel. :)

---------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: I received Vibrato last week and have to say they smell quite similar. The Vibrato lacks the sweetness; to me, it smells a bit sportier and more citrusy. However, the Hedonist DNA is very clearly recognizable. On my skin, Vibrato lasts a bit less long but has a greater projection.
Conclusion: I am glad I chose The Hedonist Extrait de Parfum because I like sweet fragrances and this one brings the necessary sweetness with it.

Something special for everyone
I find the scent pleasantly fresh, which is why I wear it occasionally in the summer. It opens with the freshness of the top notes and develops into a woody, profound fragrance for me after about 1-2 hours, which is why I like to apply it just before dusk. In my opinion, the lychee in the background is clearly noticeable and gives this fragrance a very unique DNA.

Scent is bland, very boring. Longevity is poor, sits close to the skin after 45 minutes. This is a dud for me. Glad i sampled.

Fruity and spicy with lychee, citrus and a woody-musky Akigalawood. Denser and sweeter than the original but weaker projection.

I love the fruity wood smoke DNA but I feel like the smoky notes are a bit too overpowering in this formulation.

Only 1 prominent change: it's more spicy-woody, think how Gris Charnel Extrait smells vs. the EDP. Rest is the same, but why is it weaker?

Created for big city aristocrats. Fresh & fearless. Makes you wanna be part of the crowd. Pure addiction, fruity lust.

85% similar to Tygar with some added amberwood making it just a bit woodier, less fresh, and more masculine. More of a night time wear.

Sweet fruity and fresh, less ginger, less spicy compared to original. Closer to just a shower gel scent

Cedar and vetiver. Fruitier, warmer version of The Hedonist Eau de Parfum. Has bigger sillage and nuclear staying power.

Similarities to Chanel Allure Homme Sport Edition Blanche; Hedonist Extrait has less citrus punch and instead leans more amber.

I am a Fernández believer, however this otherwise-lovely scent sticks close to the skin, hums quietly, and remains a little flattened. Hmm.
